Hi all, played a fast game (1m +3x20sec) of Fox server and I ask for some review. Just for the record: my 144 move was a misclick due to some server delay Thanks in advance. |

Well I do think 144-145 was the losing/winning combination. Before that, there were many occasions to do something at the top or top lef It's too late for me now to start a Katago based review but I wonder why you treated that area as not so important for a large part of the game. Take move 114 for example, where you can play K18, probing Black to give up 3 stones and if he doesn't, cut at J13 next, a fight you can't lose IMO Even at 76 I'd launch such a semi-attack At 52 I'm tempted to hane-cut at B15 ... All of them moves I'd need to check but that's where my attention goes. |

Knotwilg wrote: At 52 I'm tempted to hane-cut at B15 ... Thanks. In fact during the game I felt that cutting was not big because opponent upper left corner was alive and I felt that was easy for him to escape with the other and hurt my D12 stone, but now that I look at it better that was good move, at least B16 had to be played. I was on tilt after 144 misclick (that is not meant as an excuse of course, but I felt ahead for all the game so far) and for few other moves I played without thinking then I tried to catch up but it was too late ![]() |

I planned to hide under the carpet my error doing keima on his Q4 (expecting extension) but after his pincer the bottom became jam and I had a poor result indeed |

![]() This is one variation, giving a 10 point lead to White. In my own analysis pre-KG I wondered about this but KG gives a 20 point lead for White now In this variation, White gets sente and leads by 11. |

Here KG agrees the top left is more important and ![]() |

Here again, KG agrees attacking the top is better by 6 points and keeping a 4 point lead. KG suggests the following exchange: |

If White doesn't defend these stones, then Black captures them, creating a living group instantly. If Black connects, then White can attack & defend, for example at ![]() If White plays ![]() Probably Black can look for a more active response, like ![]() ![]() |

Fllecha, did you realise black can play 4 here for snapback not a, and thus white 3 doesn't save h17 in sente? (Maybe 3 is better at b, so that white's follow up later is placement at 4, depends if black block at 3 first will be likely). It's too bad to let black capture the 2 stones in sente, so white morally has to tenuki, and then when black captures h17 the white group only has 1 eye on the top, black can likely get a-b exchange in sente, and losing that liberty for black doesn't matter once the 2 stones are captured: White black's knight move surround of 77, defending/saving these 2 stones is thus practically double sente. |

@ uberdude and @ knotwilg ah yes now I get it. What I didn't realize in the game was that saving the two stones would have made his group a floating group. Don't know why that even passed throught my mind (I noticed the snapback ![]() |
