Hello, I request comments on the following game. I very rarely win handicap games as white; this game represents the very best I can do against handicap, and even so I was over twenty points behind by the time of black's decisive invasion, with little further potential. (n.b. despite it saying both players were 7 kyu, the difference in DGS ranks was very close to 2 stones) |

On move 43 you had a golden opportunity to connect your two weak groups with O2. I know its tempting to seal black in, but protecting your weak groups is more urgent. On move 83, G17 seemed like the only choice. J17 was far too passive, imo. Note that if you play G17, black was to worry about you driving through at F16, F15 etc, and also, many ladders work for you (O11 stone). So, although there are numerous variations, I think you must play the more aggressive way. |

My impression is that you're play is a bit heavy, you start a fight too early on instead of building a bit of influence in different parts of the board and wait for a mistake. On Move 45 Why not N3? It'd threaten to connect your groups and separates his groups. And I would have played 11 at R5. I'm not sure if it's good, but it puts pressure on his groups and leaves room for mistakes. |

Thanks for the comments! It was not my intention at all to cause an immediate fight in the lower right, and I don't even quite know what caused it. Should I have played 7 at P5 instead of leaning? |
