Just played a DDK and I wrote a review to offer some advice. However I foolishly know of no way to upload the file to ogs. So, here we are. Please feel free to chip in.

On OGS, you can edit comments into the game afterwards, and it'll send them a message letting them know. Or you could message the other player and try sending a link there? If you can't embed it there, you could just link to this thread.

Yes, I know. This is how idiotic I am. I forgot and just typed it all up in Drago. And now I've written too much to be bothered to cut and paste it all. Irritating.

On W46 the variation leading to B55: B55 is wrong, of course.

EdLee, for some reason I cannot download the sgf. Is it on my end or yours? Well, if it's yours, I'll have to wait for my riposte. :)

edit: Weavehole, listen to EdLee, he's better at this than I am.

Thanks very much to you both for taking the time to comment.
It seems the main thing for me to take away is not to concentrate solely on the corners, which I've tried to avoid in more recent games. (I lost a few games for that reason).

Plus, to use 'basic shapes'. Could you point me in the direction of some examples of those, if possible? Just a link to a useful tutorial if one springs to mind. If not I'll keep the idea in mind as I look around.

I have a bunch of apps on the iphone which have some life n death and joseki puzzles plus some annotated pro games. I'll keep studying when I have the time.

All good fun though.

Thanks again.

Yes, we must always look at both the local situation and the global situation.
This takes a lot of experience.

We can see a lot of good, pro basic shapes in josekis.

Just keep playing. If you have not finished 100 games yet,
try to do so as quickly as your time allows. (Smaller boards will save you
a lot of time this way.)

After that, once in a while, when you play a serious game and don't know
why you lose, post it here for reviews. It's a very long journey. :)

Ok, thanks.

I'll play a few more 9 x 9 games if you think that's useful.

weavehole, yes, you'll learn a lot from experience right now. 9x9, 11x11, 13x13, 15x15... are all good. :)
(But if you have much less than 100 games, the smaller boards can save you time.)
