Crossposted from Study Journal forum .. Here's a very fun game I had played last night against another rusty returnee. His provisional rank was 16k?. But I saw him decimate a 14k with a 2 stone handi and so I offered to play him even. He agreed and it was a blast, ending up with a 0.5 win. Here are my own comments - I didn't really have a plan for my invasion on the right. I stumbled into a living group based on his mistakes. While I was pleased to just make it out alive, I know there is something better to do here. My invasion left, and the resulting ko have me trouble. I botched the ko by trading the corner and lost a ton of points. I get nervous in ko fights, trying to assess ko threats. The result is timid play damaging play. In the endgame, I felt I was almost ever in gote and losing points. I am sure I missed tesuji's along the way that perhaps could have given me a little more edge in the count. Thanks in advance |

Just a few quick thoughts: 10: Was this intentional? Experiments are good, but f17 is much safer. 26: A weird move, this doesn't seem to pressure the black stones at all. 28: I'd block the other side N3, cutting off the k3 stone. 34 & 36: These feel quite bad to me. You're settling, but black has made a very big right side without much fight. 52: I think this is too deep. You got lucky living. I'd probably play the split around O14, try to pressure the j17 group into giving you thickness. 73: If black connects at S11, I'm pretty sure all the white stones die... 132: Don't fight the ko, just capture with B11. 186: Pretty sure L19 is bigger than this. |

Thanks emerald ... Would something like 32 at Q7 be a better move to contest the right, even at the expense of settling the N4 group? I especially like 132 at B11, thanks again! |
