Hi guys,

In inspiration of shapenaji I've been playing a lot of center shimari recently.
This always leads to very fun games, howhever I think I still have a lot to learn in terms of how to use it.

Today I was quite succesfull in incorporating it, maybe I was lucky.

Anyway I have a few questions about the fuseki and one joseki related here.

I'm black in this game.
At move 8 I usualy have a problem here because everybody seems to like pincering me.
In this case I played c9 but if feels like I'm building a way too cramped area.

So my question is more in general... in this fuseki if you get pincered after this aproach, is it ok just to jump into the corner ?
This way white can build influence but it does not really matter because of the center shimari.
But on the other hand it is very bad because I did not do anything usefull with the center shimari.

The latter is the reason why I did not go into the corner.

My next question is related to c11 that white played later (at move 18).
This move really feels like an overplay because I get to cut.
But if you follow that sequence I'm not sure the sequence is really all that great for me.

So my second question is wether cutting is wrong. (or maybe I played wrong at move 33 where I should have instead extended one more time at k16 ?)
I have a feeling the teritory he got was worth way more than the influence I got because it still had so many aji later.

Thanks a lot guys!

ps: In case you are wondering, I'm not sandbagging at 4k. I just did not play for some time and my rank fell down so now I have to climb up again.

Hi otenki, for :b9:, how about simply jumping out to E14 ? Then you have two good follow-up directions:
F16 direction (to pressure :w6: ) and D8 directon (to counter-pincer :w8: ) -- seem to be miai for you ?

With your center opening, jumping out to E14 to fight seems very natural (at least to me -- perhaps others have different opinions. :) )

( Yes, Uberdude, thanks for pointing out the typo. :) )

Agree with Ed, assuming d18 meant d8.

Yeah just keep extending for ever (or can you hane or jump at some point?), those white stones are already dead, that net is like a -1 point in gote move. If he tries to save them the fight is great for you with the centre shimari.

Something I have been trying to do when I have a ladder breaker is playing the wedge, instead of letting my opponent play the nobi suki.
