I have 4 corners, two of which reasonably big, nobody has anything in the middle, sides are shrunk... I was sure, I was about 10-15 points ahead. After counting, I was shocked to see that lost by 1,5 points. Since a wrong estimation cannot possibly be so wrong, this is a clear proof that the game of Go itself is wrong! |

Yes. For games like this, komi should be reduced to 4.5 pts. |

Why did you remove a stone with 209 in the game (N15). That looks like a 2-point loss in gote. If you had played the hane at K19 instead (3-point gote play), you would have been five points better off. Also 237 was a pass, it merely threatens to take the ko next (which never happens in the game). Playing K13 looks better. |

Dont worry you are only 2 kyu . If you improve you will see the game differently. You and your oppenent played a lot of bad moves and because you are only 2 kyu i guess you can count exactly so dont worry . |

With 209 I misread something and though there was a danger from the left hand side. Didn't bother to read very carefully though, because I was 15 points ahead anyway ![]() |

Here are some comments, mainly on the start of the game. EDIT: First comment should say "make you feel worse", not "less worse" :p

I think that trying to save R6 was a very risky policy. ( I would have abandoned them. ) But once you have committed yourself to saving them, you should do so thoroughly. In particular, move 61 should have been something like J10 or M9. |

For what it's worth, move 173 was equivalent to a pass, and it looks like you lost ~12 points (Bill can give us an exact number) when white played 174. |

Without komi, white was 5 points behind. That doesn't seem so far off from 10 points. For a visual estimation based on instinct and not actual counting, that seems pretty close. After counting, I was shocked to see that lost by 1,5 points. entropi wrote: Since a wrong estimation cannot possibly be so wrong, this is a clear proof that the game of Go itself is wrong! Mr. Nash, you have an excellent, if very subtle, sense of humor.

My Longman dictionary gives the example: "She is a pleasant if noisy child." So that settles the issue. Next I checked "lemmata". I believed it was plural of the greek word lemma. But that is not in the dictionary. Now I believe it is from the Latin word lemma, lemmatis. But its plural is lemmates. So can you explain yourself, mr lemmata? ![]() |

"Lemmata" is an English word with Greek origin. The original form of words tend to become corrupted when they are imported into the English lexicon. The simplest explanation is often the best one. |
