Get out while you still can!

Kidding aside, welcome to the forums and welcome to go.
How did you come to find us and our game?

Thanks for the reply zac! Yes! I am involved in several things that I need a support group to escape from!

How did you come to find us and our game?

Used to live in Berkeley, California and first saw the game there. Was more of a Chess player then, but never played Go. There was a great game shop there called Games of Berkeley and they had everything...http://www.gamesofberkeley.com/ I wish I could just run over there!

So why now? Believe it our not, the other night, my wife and I were watching Mulan (the Disney film) and there were some people playing in a scene. I had thought of the game in years. Got an app for my iPhone and been googling around since and found the AGA site...

That is a good warning. Go can become addictive. The learning curve is very steep - way worse than chess - so you can spend lots of effort trying to become better and just end up frustrated.

Nonetheless, most of us consider it worthwhile in the long run. You probably will too. Your wife...well that may be a different story. :)

Actually, that looks like Xiangqi (Chinese chess), not go.
Anyway, welcome to Go :)

xed_over - not sure that that really was the scene. I got that off the web. I thought it was more in the background - the photo may be from Mulan II.
