So I've finally gotten around to making a pairing for the 2012 L19 tournament.

The players are divided into four groups of 8 players, based on playing strength. In case players of equal playing strength needed to be put in different groups, I drew random lots.

The groups are:
(hidden to save space)

Group 1:
HermanHiddema (herminator) 4d
ez4u 3d
crux (venkman) 3d
Uberdude 3d
redundant 2d
stalkor 2d
Loons (Practise) 2d
lobotommy (tommyray) 1d

Group 2:
topazg 1d
quantumf 1d
Laman 1d
lindentree 1d
Jedo 1d
Celebrir 1k
Marcus (Marcus361) 2k
LucianoS 2k

Group 3:
danielxr 2k
Tryss 2k
jts (jtscarry) 3k
Rafa 4k
speedchase 4k
oren 5k
rpchuang 5k
Nathan 6k

Group 4:
NinG 6k
phillip1882 6k
hailthorn011 (hailthorn) 7k
schultz 8k
Jordus 9k
lesenv 9k
TwitchyGo 9k
Lincarte 10k

All games are to be played on KGS. If a player's KGS nickname is different than their L19 forum user name, their KGS nick is mentioned behind their user name between parenthesis.

In the first round, the players from group 4 have been paired randomly against those from group 3. The winners will be paired randomly against the players from group 2, and the winners of those games paired randomly against the players from group 1.

Losers will move to the loser bracket, where they will be paired in such a way to avoid repeated match-ups.

All games are even, colors to be decided randomly.
We play with AGA rules and 7.5 komi.
Time setting is 40m main time followed by 5x40s byoyomi (or 10 stones per 5 minutes Canadian, if both players agree).

If the players make a mistake in choosing the rule set, time settings, etc, they should restart the game if they notice within the first 10 moves, otherwise they should finish the games with the settings chosen. Komi will always be 7.5, even if accidentally set differently, because the score can be adjusted after the game.

When your game has been played, the winner should post the result (and the SGF) to this thread.

And the most important rule of all: Behave sportsmanlike!

The pairing for round 1 is:

Code:
danielxr       2k  - phillip1882              6k
Tryss          2k  - Lincarte                10k
jts (jtscarry) 3k  - schultz                  8k
Rafa           4k  - TwitchyGo                9k
speedchase     4k  - Jordus                   9k
oren           5k  - NinG                     6k
rpchuang       5k  - lesenv                   9k
Nathan         6k  - hailthorn011 (hailthorn) 7k

Please try to contact your opponent a.s.a.p.

This round will run until Sunday June 24th

Point(s) of clarification on AGA rules.

Is it required to fill in Dame?
If I recall correctly in AGA W has to play last, even if he passes.
And when passing you give up a point(passing a stone)

Am I correct in this?

If you choose to pass before dame are filled, you will lose points. The best play then is to fill all dame before passing.

I'm pretty sure most people read the forum via "view unread posts", so the sub-forum doesn't matter.
