I forget where I first heard about the oil drop stuff. I thought it was really interesting and eventually forgot about it.

The article eventually mentions the criticism that it doesn't have the explanatory power that the standard model has.

Also, they call psi? a "probability wave" which I think is misleading. I think we haven't ever seen that wave and can't imagine what it might be (Schroedinger's equation works but doesn't have a fundamental basis). However, the modulus of psi squared is the probability of finding the particle.

The "Quantum state may be a real thing" article may indicate the significance of the oil drop on surface experiments. It says, "Bohm's pilot wave, a type of hidden variable, has to be pretty extraordinary to be real." By finding a classical analog of the pilot wave, the oil drop experiments reduce the extraordinariness of the pilot wave.

Meanwhile, the many worlds interpretation has a number of hidden variables approaching infinity.

Does it mean the following: god does not throw dice -> everything is deterministic -> from bing bang on, one could predict that I would exist and write this post...

Why did bing bang happen that way then? If everything is deterministic, what is the reason of the very first state of everything?
