This is a duplicate of a thread I made in TL: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=165675. I figure this is the other very likely place where I could find both Korean speakers and geeky-minded people who might want to help.

TLDR Summary: I am helping some people bring Android 2.2 to the Samsung Fascinate and we need OS files from the Galaxy K, a closely related phone only sold in Korea. See following graphic for technical information:

Background (long version):
I am a member of a community of Android phone users who root / jailbreak / hack their phones. We customize, add functionality, overclock, and in general add awesomeness to our phones beyond what the carrier / manufacturer gives us. If you wish to know more about this community, you can visit here: http://www.xda-developers.com/

We are trying to bring Android 2.2 Froyo to the Samsung Galaxy S, specifically the Fascinate variant. The HW on the phone is wtfawesome but Samsung put a steaming pile of crap on the SW side. Besides the fact that they have delayed giving us Froyo time and time again almost half a year after its release, they also put a crap, unremovable bloatware on our phones, not least removing Google and forcing Bing down our throats. All that would be bearable if they didn't opt to use their own proprietary file system called RFS which has hideous I/O rates and cause lag in daily use. Our community has overcome a lot of issues and we have very talented programming working to bring Froyo to us, but now we are stuck and need outside help. Since Android is licensed under the GPL Samsung has released the source code for the Galaxy K, a closely related device sold only in Korea and comes with Froyo, but we are still missing a lot of needed information.

What I need:
I need a system dump and a initramfs of a Samsung Galaxy K, which is only sold in Korea. These are the operating system files and the initramfs specifies the partition information of the phone. No one involved in this effort owns a Galaxy K or knows any Korean, so we are stuck. We need 1.) either an owner of the Galaxy K to copy these files for us or 2.) a translator who can find some Korean Android forums and ask for us.

1.If you are a Galaxy K owner and have already rooted your phone + have experience tinkering with it, it would be a piece of cake. You would not need to modify your phone at all, just copy some files from /system and some other files. PM me for more info. If you are new / not comfortable with rooting, DO NOT do anything to your phone, but you might be able to help me with 2:

2. If you know Korean then you may be able to help me out by posting around in Korean forums devoted to Android development for someone that can get us these files. I do not actually know where are the best places to ask this question but a quick Google + Babelfish gives me this starting point:

Basically I need some one to start a new topic with the following information:
- We are a team of developers working on the bringing Android 2.2 Froyo to the Fascinate. This phone is a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S and closely related to the Galaxy K. It is a CDMA phone and hence share the most similarities to Galaxy K out of all the Galaxy S phones.

- We have the Galaxy K source code released by Samsung but are missing the RFS modules. To get that working we need the initramfs and a /system dump. The keywords to use here are "adb pull /system" and "initramfs", and they should know what I am talking about. For the initramfs we may also need files from /sbin , /lib and the .rc and .rh fies in / . They should know this from just mentioning initramfs and RFS but this may make it clearer.

- If they cannot help us, could they please point us in the direction of someone who can.

I anticipate that this may not be a one stop favor, ie, there maybe back and forth and I may ask the initial translator to do more . If this happens (and the translator is willing), I will put him in touch with the lead programmer for our project

Thanks a ton!!!
