Have you read "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline? What do you think of it?

Yeah. Its a fun read. Very 80s gaming nostalgic, but I think enjoyable even if you don't get all the inside references (I even learned some stuff). And you can't go wrong if Patrick Rothfuss ("Name of the Wind" author) loves it, "... because honestly, Ready Player One was probably the best book I read last year. (And I read a lot.)"[1]

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't know what but to me it kind of had like this Ender's Game feel to it, and some of the scenes I imagined them looking sort of gritty like the original Bladerunner. Haha!

I was not taken by it. Sure, there were lots of pop culture throwback references. But strip them away, and the content is rather thin. I'd say it's a great trip down nostalgia lane.

I grew up in the 80s and I'm also a bit of a VR enthusiast so this book was a good match for me. It's basically a young adult novel targeted at 40 year olds and as such it's hard to resist its charm. It's just a lot of fun.
