The 100% Internet-based program is operated by Current European 1st-rank player In-seong Hwang 8 Dan

Starting this season, we are opening up the 'American version' Yunguseng Dojang!
Now American-time-zone players can 'fully' enjoy the same program as the Europeans!

The Yunguseng Dojang has 3 special points:

1. Each of the five games played per month will be personally reviewed by In-seong
2. Nine live, interactive lectures each season
3. All lectures and reviews are recorded live and available for viewing anytime! Therefore, a live-attendance is not required.

The next season starts in January 2014!

Sign up now, and get the free access to all existing lesson videos!
There are 60 lectures and over 1000 game review videos!

Feel free to check out the 3 sample lecture videos and learn more about the overall program on our Website:

The times are a bit odd to me.

http://ayd.yunguseng.com/schedule.html

You say the lectures are in the evening but the calendar says lectures start at 3pm EST, noon PST.

Is there a problem in the text or the google calendar?

edit...

Nevermind I noticed the text says the time in CST but the calendar input times are off by seven hours.

edit two...

All fixed

It looks like a very nice site with a well-run program.

One interesting thing: some of the students are using their normal KGS playing nicks, so you can check their actual KGS rating graphs. It's a little hard to analyze systematically because some players drop their accounts or have really wild graphs---perhaps from going on tilt---but from some spot checks it seems that the players in the top 1-2 spots in their league are improving, which is good news. Even the TheCaptain has a rating that is trending up.

However, for the players who finish further down in their leagues, the prognosis doesn't seem to be as cheery. Some stay flat and some lose rating. And I mean KGS rating not YD rating, which is to be expected in a league system. (I'll be kind and not say "get weaker" because trying new things might cause you to lose a lot of games at first---and that's not necessarily a bad thing.)

The only thing I can say as check that information out for yourself and draw your own conclusions. For any teaching, I'd found that you get out of it what you put into it. The players who trend up (to me) seem to be playing significantly more than the 5 league games per month. Probably they are taking their homework seriously, too.

But these are just eyeball observations, which can be misleading and far from systematic. I have to give In-seong credit for openness.

So this program has a very good teacher and seems well-organized, but not a lot of shodan-in-a-year stories here, which means to me that such a program is only part of the solution for a player serious about improving.

Keep in mind "regular posters" are a relatively small bunch... SoDesuNe and myself are probably the only regulars that have participated in the NGA, for that matter.

Hi, Maybe our members are not very active in this forum. That's a pity!
However, here you can see our member's comment: http://ayd.yunguseng.com/teacher.html#comments

Last season, we had 70-80 members and so far, 55 members renewed for next season.
We normally have about 80% of renewal members :)

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Kindly,
In-seong

I admit I am one of these "black sheep". I love to be a member of Yunguseng Dojang, but I lack two things: youth and concentration.
Season 7 was my first experience and I did not make enough use of the excellent teaching videos, game reviews and weekly lectures.
That is only my fault and I have to say sorry to In-Seong who always was patient and friendly. In season 8 I hope to be more eager.
A much better example than I is e.g. martin97 who definitively made it from a kyu player to dan player.
Please check out his KGS info which gives due credit to In-Seong:
Endlich 1D EGD Rating erreicht beim Stuttgarter Turnier!
14/07/13

probierts aus, is echt gut! :)
Translation:
Finally 1D EGD rating at Stuttgart tournament in July 2013!
One month later 2D rating and confirmation with 3-2 in Mannheim tournament.
I'm on my way :P
Most of my improvement I owe to Inseong 8d and his training http://www.yunguseng.com/
Try it out - it rocks! :)

Cheers,
Rainer

I am also a Yunguseng Dojang student on Spectator version.
I am a Spectator only, because I live in China, so the time difference is impossible to overcome until this moment, otherwise I would be a regular League Student for sure.
What I have to say about the Yunguseng Dojang as a Spectator is about the quality of the teaching.
The teaching is great:
- Teacher In-seong has already a high experience in teaching western students, he counts already 7 season's in European Yunguseng Dojang and every Season the number of players and spectators grows. He has been in Europe for a long time already.
- sound clear and high quality videos uploaded all week long (lectures and game reviews) - can have access to old lectures and reviews as well
- hard/unknown concepts, easily grasped (concepts that were totally unknown to me until that point, in all games aspects) - being European, and not knowing how to read japanese and korean, there is a lot of information inaccessible to me that is presented very clearly here.
- after the weekly lecture, you can send in your games for review focusing on lecture theme, as homework system

The difference between League Players and Spectators:
1 - First of all you get all your games reviewed personally by Teacher In-seong!!
2 - You get the opportunity to play SERIOUS GAMES against strong players!!

What I would recommend? League Player! why?
Since I wasn't able to be a League player, Teacher In-seong, was kind enough to accept me as a private student for a few months, with 1 class once a week (very little), please check my graph rank - for long time I haven't had this type of growth ratio, actually I was absent from playing because I felt I didn't have the proper way to play, Teacher In-seong gave me this through his Lectures.. Basically I was almost a League player, because I have had games reviewed by Teacher In-seong, and I had access to Yunguseng Dojang Lectures as Spectator. The only thing I was missing were serious game conditions, which I tried to have every time I played. So this is why I said, If I could I would be League player.
Also I need to stress that magic does not happen if you don't study and if you don't play, as I felt it as well.

Conclusion
1 - Consider how much effort/study you want to put into being a stronger player
2 - Consider how much money you can dispense for it
3 - Consider how long you can endure on such study scheme

Because in Yunguseng Dojang, you will be able to improve for sure, if you study and play.

If you have any more questions please let me know.
Regards,

Very nice to hear from the students. Now I'd like hear the teacher's plan for getting up to review games at 8PM CST... sounds pretty grueling to keep both leagues going, but I suppose nothing compared to being a baduk student in Korea... :)

I'm also an European Yunguseng student (1 year and 3 months so far, and I renew for another 2 seasons).

I stared in Spain just after the EGC of 2012, when I was around EGF 13k (I started as the weakest member of YD), and now I live in Japan and I play as a Japanese 1d (EGF 3~4k) and Yunguseng Dojang was may main source of study. I was to busy for doing almost anything else... but keep playing 1 serious game + review + lesson per week was definitivly what I needed to impreve steadily.

In addition to the fix schedule, the explanations from In-seong are great, and since it's recorded in video you can whatch them again an again whenever you forgot something.

My KGS account may not be the best place to check since for almost one year I just played non-ranked private games in the Yungusen leagues only (and not serious games with bots for fun and research).

First, I have an experience that I ran the European Yunguseng Dojang while I stayed in Korea for 4-5 months. At that time I woke up at 4-5 am for teaching. It was hard but I managed without any problem. Even American YD will open only 2 days a week(European one is 3-4 times a week) Therefore, I'm positive to manage it.

Second, after several season when it becomes settle down, I plan to hire a teacher who is living in suitable time zone for American league and teach together.

I hope this answer helps you to remove your doubt! :)

Kindly,
In-seong
