Hi there, I have been playing go for some time now but only using KGS server. Now I hear that KGS is perhaps the weakest server of all and also what seems interesting is that players around 10k on all servers tend to play differently.

http://senseis.xmp.net/?GoServer

Using this server list could someone perhaps create a review of how players play on a particular server?

Example:

People on KGS tend to have more understanding in theory and focus on openings but are not that good with fighting etc.

Tygem: Crazy fighters but little understanding in opening theory.

and so on...

(I am around 9 kyu on KGS and while reviewing of lower kyu or even dan players is welcome I would be happy if someone could share their opinion)

I can't understand why this myth about 'crazy fighters on Tygem' still persist. I can't find any 'crazy fighter' there, I just see players with their own weaknesses but nothing global or worth generalisation.

I was just reading about this on some other topic, I didn't claim it was true and that is why I am searching for an answer.

Why not just play there and find for yourself?

It would take dozen of games for me to understand how they play, it is much more simple to ask someone who plays there.

And it's an interesting generalization. I had no idea such generalizations existed and hope to hear more on the topic.

Everytime I play weaker player I ask myself why he is so aggressive - same with Tygem players, you need to enroll there few stones stronger than your kgs rank, otherwise you'll find yourself playing endless number of games with weaker players which means you will interpret their way of play as aggressive. This is the only generalisation I can agree with :). Second option for creating this "crazy fighters" myth is when you play there against much stronger player with much lower rank than he should have - such sandbagger will kill you everywhere because of your weak play. So again - there is no special aggressive attitude in my opinion.

If you can't find them, it could be because you're one of them. :)
