Universal go server handle: sclim
i keep getting a pop-up recently asking me to restart to update to latest client.
no matter how many times i restart, it still shows up...

There has been an update but it has not been recent. I guess you could visit https://www.gokgs.com and download the client again.

My client stopped working today. Ubuntu 16.04
It takes me to the login page and I click to enter and nothing, disappears

I - and my friends, who met up for rengo - had problems with KGS twice today. Both times all connections to the server ended and then we couldn't log back in.

Right now everything works fine again.

The problem wasn't at your end. The server crashed several times.
