Re: What ever happened to Igolocal?

the domain seems to be vacant again. :(

probably since April 2012 as the senseis article seems to indicate.

I didn't use it very often but think igolocal is a very important idea. It would be sad to lose it.

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS

Joaz and I finally played a game, and I won by resign.

Araban's nice visual pairing chart is unofficial, but it is accurate, right? So I am to play lefuet next round?

since i can't message kivi I try here:

Hi Kivi,

you are Kodomo and we are to play next?
I live at gmt+1. Next possibility ...

Re: L19 2011 tournament: PAIRINGS and RESULTS

I am sorry for delaying the game for so long. I hope to find some time to play with Stalker this week. If not I will regretfully withdraw due to greater then anticipated time constraints.

Hehe, this would be true if the stones were numbered or of different colors :)

then moving 3 stones would not be enough tu turn the pyramid upside down ;)

We have a winner!

does it not move all the stones? or if you only turn the board the pyramide is still upside. ;)

tj86430 wrote:Thanks for the comments. How does your variation at move 89 (F7) work, cant white capture the two black stones with D7, which to me seems quite bad for black?

your move dos not prevent D7 either.

Re: Avoiding a seki

move 255 @B13 also removes the seki :)

try to see ataris and recognize wich stones are important to be saved or captured (I also struggle with this)

But, it seems that the Japanese style is very popular on KGS and in this thread. So my sincere question is this: using the Japanese system, how do you handle those times when some deep thought is required?

We rush the process: we trim decison trees too quickly, we make unwarranted assumptions ...

Re: Score estimator bug

iirc the score estimator is not improved anymore. the original programmer is gone. the estimator is just left as a convenience for us lazy counters. It still has many bugs but the alternative would be no estimator t all. ;)

Re: Why aren't escapers marked?

One thought -- I try not to treat any particular game of Go as spectacularly important. If something important related to family, work, or friends comes up while I'm playing a game on KGS, I would like to drop the game without a second thought. If all my opponents spoke English, I'm sure it would ...
