Note the awesome tesuji at the end of this game. Well worth knowing, as it comes up in games more often than you think.

Having been a recorder myself for a couple of go congresses...Not a lot of experience here, but one of the biggest key for recording the game properly is exhibiting professionalism in recording. I believe that through some conversations that I had with others -- the most important thing to do is ...

What I would love is to have an international tournament with a rather large purse, and 8 hours main time for each. That, I would love to see what would happen.

Re: A failed attack.

Move 83. Did you really need to kill those three stones? Look at what it is cutting at the moment...two strong groups! Let him pull the stones out, and switch your focus elsewhere...like N9 or similar. Maybe a fight in the middle will ensue that will just kill those three stones.

Something to ...

Re: 165 LexC vs EdLee

Interesting game, and will be a great game to review in detail. My overall feeling is that black has really slipped in yose, playing a lot of moves while there was a big move on the bottom for like forever. White just kept taking a lot of big points throughout the game.

Um. Quibbling over a hane, when black could have killed directly after white ignored move 35. Throw in at B1.

Re: Another game which I managed to lose

Probably a good idea to take this game through a quick endgame analysis. For instance -- move 121 is only 1 or 2 points. Move 119 can be at move 121, get a little bigger with one move instead of two moves.

Try to pick few moves from the game that is definitely big, and compare all of the previous ...

Re: What are the Skills of Go?

Big two skills to me:

1) Attitude
2) Reading
3) Reviewing

If you enter game thinking you will lose, you will lose. If you don't want to play, but play anyway, you will lose. Of course, unless...your opponent wants to lose harder than you. Keep positive attitude throughout the game, and keep ...

Re: How to win a lost game on KGS ( Requirement: No moral )

Imagine this situation:

Two players just reached scoring phase. Losing player sees that he has lost the game, but refuses to click "done". Then sits around in the room, doing nothing.

Now, if the winning player clicked done, and asks the losing player to click on "done", and losing player doesn't ...

Re: How to win a lost game on KGS ( Requirement: No moral )

This is where KGSs other abusable feature comes in handy. If your opponent is refusing to mark dead stones properly you can just leave. Like everyone's said, you know the result and that's what matters.

KGS admin hat on: If there is any scoring abuse, tell an admin immediately, and we frown on ...

Re: A game I couldn't read

at move 147, find a better move than black 148. The followup will involve a tesuji, and big gains in endgame there. Good exercise.

Also, Move 101 -- center is dime a dozen... not that big as he will need to spend several moves reducing that! Take sente and attack the corner, and try to keep sente ...

Re: Professionals that were known especially for their ko fi

Watch for Luo Xihe 9p. He's known for being particularly devious with ko battles. In fact, one tournament he won -- I believe it's Samsung cup -- he was incredibly crazy with ko battles to the point that he was called "King of Ko". Of course, you don't see Luo Xihe around much these days.
