Maybe I'm just inventing this distinction to justify my own habits, but I draw a strong line between what's allowable in real-time (F2F or KGS for example) vs. long-term (like DGS) playing.
In real time, it is just you and me. No aids allowed at all since we are both committing the time and place ...

Re: Have you ever cheated at go?
Similar to above responses, I've never done what I'd consider "cheating", but I did decide to publicly post in my DGS listing that I will use reference materials and such (but not consultation with other players) in those games just so there wouldn't be any confusion about that.

Re: Have you dreamt about go?
Go dreams are perfectly normal and it seems many who seriously study get them. So don't worry about that.

Re: AlphaGo Surge
Bruce, did you see any increased attendance at the go club on Sunday? My attendance is as spotty as usual, but I'm hoping at least a few new players from the Denver area were drawn in.

AlphaGo Surge
Anyone else seen a local uptick in Go club attendance or interest? I don't have a meeting until Sunday so proof is a few days off but I've received more emails than usual asking about details.

Re: Does AlphaGo belittle our efforts in Go?
Well, to me, playing go has always been about playing people in many senses of that phrase. I already lose to programs all the time, so a new superbot doesn't really change much for me on a personal level. So what if there is one more thing that machines/computers/technology can do better than I can ...

I never flicked cig ash into my bowl or lid, but more than once I've reached for a stone and found my fingers in my coffee cup instead.
VERY disconcerting the first few times it happens. You are expecting hard and smooth and get warm and wet instead. Bwwsffhsth!

3-3 enclosure invasion help
Hey all,
Can anyone point me to a (hopefully detailed) analysis of this 3-3 invasion? Especially where B replies with the empty triangle at 3-4. Sensei's seems to cover everything BUT that move.
Thanks,

Japanese, no superko restrictions enforced. Typically, this will be on a 9x9 so points are relatively easy to count (and a low number as well). If folks are really interested in other rulesets, I'll then describe Chinese and AGA (in that order).

Advanced Civilization ("original" AH version, not the computer game series). Takes quite a while for a full game but loads of fun.
