Re: The KGS is dead, long live the KGS ?
Last time I was on KGS it was with a new account 'cos my previous one had deactivated due to inactivity, and none of the bots were active right then so there was nothing I could do to get a rank. Automatch won't pair you with anyone, and every time I tried accepting someone's open challenge they ...

Re: The KGS is dead, long live the KGS ?
I hope this marks a recovery for KGS. Last time I tried playing there, it took forever to wrangle cooperation out of that dismal java client and then, once I could log in, I found the tone of the place to be completely toxic.

Re: 'Ancient Go' Steam Greenlight - Developer Here
Looks really good! The 3D appearance of the board is very appealing, and I like the nice cheerful stone placement sound.
My only criticism of the video is that some of the slide transitions are a bit too fast.
Nice work.

Joseki question
Hi all, I have a question about white's last move in this game. I played the low three-space pincer because it was simultaneously a pincer and an extension from my top right corner, and white straight away slid to the 2-4 point. I would have expected the 3-3 invasion, the inside attachment, or a ...

Re: Why are Korean Go players so strong?
On a somewhat related question, everyone knows the Big Three nations in go are China, South Korea, and Japan. Who would you say is #4? Taiwan, perhaps?

Re: Go handicap vs. Chess handicap
If you give a rook as handicap, can you still castle on the missing rook's side?

Not only that, but the worst possible losing streak is one game.

Ah, good point. Although even if full boards were allowed it would still be an odd number because there are 2^361 possible fully occupied boards.

I almost never ask for undos, but I usually grant them if it's obviously a misclick.

Re: Cheap go boards hitting the market
I found a...picture of the board and stones...
Unfortunately, that requires a login.
I got this from Daedalus' wholesale site:

Ugh, could black and white be playing any worse? Petty, I know, but a clearly idiotic and ugly board position is not a good advertisement for this ...

Re: Korean man told me that tengen opening is disrespectful
I, for one, won't be pissed if my opponent plays tengen against me: I might even be at a loss as to how to play properly against it. On the other hand, I WOULD be pissed if my opponent had a problem with me playing tengen against him, and would find HIM disrespectful towards me.
That being said, I ...
