Redstone, a Go variant, now at BGA

Redstone is now played at Board Game Arena.

Redstone is a variant of Go in which neutral red stones are used to capture. Red stones are permanent. They cannot themselves be captured. Redstone is a game of annihilation. Not a territory game.

Interesting :)

I had the board made specifically for Oust for which base 7 is almost always used. Sometimes base 8 is used, but... it's etched in wood.

Re: Hex Goban

Placing stones inside the geometric shapes? What devilry is this?
There's been a bit of an outcry among Go players. Every hexagonal board I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot, has the stones inside the cells. There are undoubtedly exceptions, but it's a de facto standard.

Btw, this is the maker ...

Poplar, laser etched lines. Next one will be kaya. This one was kind of a test board (at $425).

Re: Hexagonal goban needed

If by professional goban maker you mean someone whose primary business is handcrafting high-quality boards out of kaya, I think you're going to have trouble getting what you want - besides the language barrier, the boards are allowed to dry for a really long time before they are finally sold ...

Are there any custom goban makers who might be willing to make a hexagonal goban?

Signup table

Suggestion: Have a signup table. Specify your name, time you expect to play within say the next 24 hours, parameters on what type of game you want to play (size, timer, etc.). There should be an on-time rating, like how often the person shows up as promised. There could be a linked table for ...

Re: Lag City

Getting back to the topic, I was wrong. There's no lag.

I had played an unrated game, I was losing horribly, my opponent informed me that I was playing without direction, and I offered to resign, which offer was readily accepted. Before resigning though, I said I wanted to test for lag, and asked ...

Re: Lag City

Just to be clear, at Kaya a stone appears as fast as *you* click, but not as fast as your opponent clicks. You should be able to move in rapid succession. Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop. That isn't happening. It's more like pop... wait... pop... wait...

Kaya is not state of the art. Far from it. As I said ...

Re: Lag City

Complaining about lag during a stress test beta completely misunderstands the point of the beta.
Au contraire. This is precisely the time to complain. I tried to put in a tweaki by clicking the feedback button on the tweaki page. It didn't show up though. So, hopefully they'll read this.

Lag is ...
