Hardly likely. You have to be something of a go nut to hang out here.

Re: ElyGo - a complete Android app

What do you mean? I'd get updates the same way.

Mike Dobbins posts the latest versions of his AnDGS apk on his website for direct download.

Jade and green stones from YMI?

I'm talking about these: http://www.ymimports.com/p-1619-jade-co ... ze-30.aspx

How do they really look and how would you describe their quality?

The pictures look nice but pictures often show colors wrong.

Re: Computers beating top human players -- good or bad?

I think it is unnecessary to have a vastly stronger opponent to improve; two roughly equal players can elevate each other - indeed, at the higher levels of pro go players they have to because there are no better players.

As an aside, the fact a car can beat a human in a race does not diminish the ...

Re: panda tetsuki in my kindle fire

I tried Tetsuki and the experience was, to be extraordinarily generous, unsatisfactory. I was unable to text except the preprogrammed messages, the constant zooming in and out was nauseating, I could not return to games if I accidentally left the board, and the incessant clock noise was maddening ...

Re: Wanted: a portable goban with printed numbers and letter

The only places I've seen people use the coordinates are: 1) when the the review is being done on a demonstration board for an audience and someone in the audience wants to ask about a move; or 2) on line on a server.

Since until this past Wednesday I'd never played a face to face game, 99.999999 ...

White vs Black Glass Stones

After I dug my old goban and stones out of storage I decided to count them and noticed something strange: There were many chipped and cracked black stones (I had to discard about 7 stones as unusable due to razor sharp edges), but only one minor chip on a white stone. I mentioned this to my opponent ...

Re: How to tell real kaya from shin kaya?

I got my board back and got some pictures which I will try to post, but I also looked at some goban photos on Yutopian and the agathis board photo on their site looks exactly like my board - same grains, same colors. So I think it is 90% likely it is agathis.

Re: How to tell real kaya from shin kaya?

I don't have it handy at the moment as I'm having a woodworking friend make some minor repairs to it, but I'll try to post a pic in a few days.

It does have brass hinges. It's about 3cm thick. Based on your information I suspect it is agathis, but let me post a pic or two.

Re: panda tetsuki in my kindle fire

Yes, first I go to settings in kindle fire and in device I allow installations of applications ("on") and then I install panda tetsuki in 1mobile.com. that's it.

Yes, but how do I get the app in the first place since Google Play doesn't work with the Kindle and apps are not downloadable to PCs?

How to tell real kaya from shin kaya?

I've got an old (minimum 25 years) folding Japanese goban and would like to know what it is made of. It was not horrifically expensive but the business I bought it from was a mom and pop Japanese restaurant with a little shop attached and the owner may have just been happy to sell it. I figure it's ...

Re: Wanted: a portable goban with printed numbers and letter

Hmm. I am not sure if coordinates will help you recreate games since most game records are not in algebraic notation (e.g.: C4, F17). Most game records look like stones on a board with move numbers on the stones. I was thinking more about discussions against opponents or fellow players in after ...

Re: Wanted: a portable goban with printed numbers and letter

A board with the rows numbered and lettered would make recreating games for study so much simpler. The only one I've found thus far has the numbers running right to left, which is useless.

I'd prefer wood or vinyl but even a full sized paper one I could print and laminate would be tolerable.

Any ...

I'd suggest buying it from yutopian if you are interested as it's cheaper there.
I ordered a copy from Yutopian yesterday. :)
