Re: Any collectors here?
I have long collected go books. I started by collecting fiction and literature with mentions of the game. I have roughly 2000 books of that sort (although I have different editions of many; the number of distinct titles would be about 1/4 of that). Only after I started running out of new stuff in ...

Re: Go Books in the USA?
Rook, I thought I had answered this a while ago, but it appears not. Katherine suggested that you email her about ordering from both companies, and make it clear that you are a brick and mortar store looking to carry the books in inventory. She is leery of wholesaling to people she doesn't know ...

Re: Go Books in the USA?
I happen to be sitting about five feet from several thousand Kiseido and Yutopian books in the venders room at the US Go Congress. The ladies who are here representing both companies [who happen to be the owner's family] are out at the moment but I'll ask them tomorrow what the policy is on ...

Is there a way to purchase this without dealing with Spamazon? If so, I would like to order a copy.l

Re: Bookoholism
I have to admit that as a book collector I am a bit baffled by this thread. Why would one Only buy books one intended to [or was able to] read?

Re: Do you regularly read non-go books?
I was drawn to the Wingrove series because of my interest in China, but found it quite repetitive after the first few books; I think I slogged through the fifth then gave up. I shudder to thing that it will be extended to 19 volumes - or are they just being cut up into smaller books? (While I ...

Congratulations. Good result. A good deal for the buyer but not such a great deal that we'd have to be sorry about the amount that the AGA received.

Re: Large collection of donated Japanese go books
If the AGA decides to sell the collection as a group, I'd be interested in knowing how and when. In the past I've mostly collected Go books in western languages only [although I bought a nice lot of Japanese books from the Walter Stubb heirs] but a collection like this would be a good way to start ...

Re: Free books, albeit obscure, if you want complete collect
Aokun, thank you much; got the books and added them to my collection. Interesting to browse, although you are right that they won't strengthen my game. No worries; all I worry about these days is strengthening my collection.

Hmmm, I didn't read Aokun's original post well enough and didn't realize that there are multiple copies. Great news. Now I won't have to sell my dogs and my tiki bar to get enough money to pay Theo to give up his copies. Aokun, please save me a copy of each. Thanks hugely.

Darn, looks as if Theo beat me out. If for any reason you don't send them off to the Netherlands, I would dearly love to purchase them.

P.S. Theo, is there anything I could send you in trade for them????

Re: New book on ukiyo-e prints
Hello,
I don't think it's been announced that the comprehensive book on ukiyo-e called "Japanese Prints and the World of Go" has been published by Kiseido. It's quite a book. It's also just about the only source for go ukiyo-e background now that Kiseido's art gallery has been taken down. Most of ...

from what I read here it is a good candidate.
I've addedit to my list of go ficiton on www.goodreads.com, which I think is the most complete list of go fiction in English on the web. Once I obtain a copy, I'll add a review.

I want the signature of Napoleon, Hitler, William the Conqueror, Isabel Castilian and Artem Kachanovsky
P.S - the signature is very important because it gives you the will that you are not such a loser.
Fortunately, I have a nice autographed photo of William the Conqueror which I would be ...

Re: If you had 10,000 $ to spend on go.
I might try to buy out the copyrights of a few out-of-print go books, then turn around and place the books in the public domain. (Though this would probably require something more like $100,000.)
Some day if I have the funds, I hope to do something similar. I would try to make a deal with ...
