Recommendations for Go AI opponent on Mac

Any recommendations for a good Go AI preferably with a nice interface for Mac? Before I play humans online I like to warm up against a computer, but the KGS bots are always taken. I've looked on sensei's . . . but that site is . . . not great. I did a quick search here but I'd like to have some good ...

Re: Life-and-death solution: what am I missing?

I just found this page on sensei's which I think describes the type of seki I have here: http://senseis.xmp.net/?SekiInTheCornerExample1

Life-and-death solution: what am I missing?

I've been using a life-and-death app that makes its own moves and tells me if my solution is WRONG or SOLVED!
There is a solution I have found for two separate problems that looks alive and well, but the app has told me I was WRONG.

So, I had a problem, and this is my first solution, for which I ...

Re: How are you enjoying go?

1. Do you like collecting fancy go boards and stones?
Not really, it seems like an indulgence if I'm not really good at playing the game. I have a folding board and stones for taking with me -- I just like it if I have something on which to play Go. If I ever get into the dan ranks I'll definitely ...

Re: 8k vs 8k

Bill, I just saw the variations at the end of the game. It just goes to show: I thought an enclosed 8-space shape was unkillable, but even if so, seki and ko can ruin my day nonetheless. If I took the time to play on S17 myself, white would win by .5? It's hard to see these things.

Re: 8k vs 8k

Thanks skydyr and Bill!

So the consensus is that the 3-3 jump is sort-of OK but not really. Not OK if I don't extend once before threatening to connect. I'm very weak with joseki, haven't studied it much in favor of other things, so I always wondered if I should extend first. Cool . . . that's ...

8k vs 8k

Hi! I have some questions about certain moves in the SGF up to move 60, if anyone could give me some much needed guidance! Any comments on what I could have done better in general would also be much appreciated.

Thankyou!

Studying go vs playing

Hi, I just wanted to float this idea-- I haven't thought that much about it but I'd like to hear your opinions.

I recently returned to go after not seeing anything go related for about two years. What was interesting to me is that the intervening two years had no effect on my ability to think ...

Re: Taking your time...

I love to take my time to make a move I think is good. But I don't, usually. No matter what time settings I offer in online games, even if just 20 minutes each, I always feel that my opponent is exasperated with how long I take to play. I'm pretty sure I just play at a kind of normal pace, but when ...

Re: What happened on October 29th, 2012?

I can kinda see how L19 could appear a bit 'crusty' to a new, young player. This old forum format isn't appealing to young people who are accustomed to simpler, more spacious designs with bigger buttons and inputs. The trend is to make content easily accessible, fast, and pretty on a phone. L19 ...
