Re: Alakazam is back!

Haha of course, there's no point discussing anything if we aren't willing to learn or admit being wrong. I defended the descend only until it was all too clear. I would like to know more though, I hope we can uncover the entire truth about it.

Perhaps I ought to include this alteration in one of my ...

Re: Alakazam is back!

I guess I am inclined for now to agree that the descend seems worse. I agree that the improved connect under variation for white that you said was enough for you is better for white.
It's...WAY better for white. It is why I suppose the descend may be worse after all.

Re: Alakazam is back!

I agree that you have provided strong arguments.

I didn't go through any variations before I said anything I've said - even my blog post about the Joseki was done from my head without any caution.
I would really like to see some actual variations for the complicated clamp thing, as then I could ...

Re: Alakazam is back!

One advantage of my choice though:

If you do the hane as white, they can just prevent your connection and after you connect and then clamp, they can revert to normal Joseki but with a bad push on their part. That push exchange is indeed terrible; it's more terrible than most kyu-level players ...

Re: Alakazam is back!

Your blog looks good. I'll definitely be following it for a while at least.

P.s. If you can keep up the level of detail I see in Separated in the Subway I think it will be an amazing resource.

Thanks Splatted! I really want to make my blog interesting, user-friendly, and overall a place people ...

Re: Go rollplaying game?

It could be a "roll-playing" game.

I attack the upper left corner and do 2d6 piercing damage.

Haha! I was reading down the page hoping for someone to say something like this, but I found this pretty funny since I learned first-hand about such things about a year or less ago.

OH NOES!! My stone ...

Re: Personal Essay About Go

WONDERFUL.

I hope you don't mind if I refer to your essay on my blog - and while I'm at it, your website, which looks simply awesome.
My blog is a little bit cluttered in comparison, materialistic even. It has many different sections (some of which are not yet fully operational, along with the fact ...

Re: Malkovich registration - sign up here to play

Hi everyone!

The Alakazam is back! I have posted a new introduction/"I've come back" statement in the Introductions forum.

I won't start up a Malkovich game until classes end in the beginning of April, but after that I wouldn't mind playing one with someone!

I don't mind playing a lower level ...

Alakazam is back!

Hi everyone! I'm back!
戻ってきたぜ!

Some of you veteran members may remember me. I've participated in the forums in the past but went through long intermissions of involvement. I am a Go teacher and have participated in various sections including the Malkovich-style games.

I have a new blog where I'll ...

...and don't search up the KGS user Alakazam. That is not me. It was me a long time ago.

Here is...My Go analytics! m

I'll do my best to keep my KGS handle listed ( <-- on the side/my profile) updated, so don't bother checking anything else. I've had many, many KGS accounts in the past...

Thanks

Experienced Go Teacher Available

Hi guys. I haven't posted on here for a while, but plan to participate more once the Summer comes around

I just want to update my lessons information first, and if need be I don't mind my other thread being deleted *wink*

My rate is flexible and up to the student. I do not require any ...

Re: Playing in the Middle

Hehe...

The other day I played a game at Go club against a friend who is 2d on KGS. He has never beaten me, so this time (not to insult him, our Go club is often full of joking around, and kind of insolent ^^) I placed my first 7 moves in a straight line in the center, all attached as one group. He ...

Re: Depth of reading correlates with rank - and other insigh

If I ever get around to it, I'll look through a few recent games for one with a position or two in which I read more than 20 moves, and not something linear like a ladder... I don't really care much to prove anything, I am only mildy tempted because it intrigues me I guess, but even if I played with ...

Re: the best way to study

Best thing of all for anyone is to attend go clubs with strong players there and just watch them talk about Go and Tsumego and things, that's what worked for me.

2d-->3d I had to stop thinking only of cash-territory.
3d and 4d<--what's the difference? I don't even remember the difference between ...

Re: the best way to study

Almost 17 years old when I started playing.

Age is a factor, but personal limits is a bigger one I think. Psychology is huge. I should study it ^^

Everyone has their own pace, so going fast is not necessary as long as u still make the goal u aim for.

My goal was to become a pro, but now, althoguh ...
