Re: Goban buying advice
These are the pictures of the Hyuga Kaya table goban (1.75-sun, 4 piece composite), extra-large Sakura gosu and size-34 jitsuyo stones from Kurokigoishi. Needless to say, these are masterpieces ! I am going to feel very guilty losing my first 100 (?) games on this

Re: Goban buying advice
As promised, here are some pictures of my reversible, 0.5" Shin Kaya Go board and size-36 glass stones from Go Game Guru. Not sure if the iphone photos do justice- it's a pretty and portable board with a nice color.

Re: Goban buying advice
Is it just me or is there some inverse relationship between strength and amount of equipment ordered?
If there is a relationship, then it is probably just a statistical accident.
One hypothesis: The people who can afford expensive equipment are probably 1) older and 2) must work hard to earn a ...

Re: Goban buying advice
Got my shin-kaya go board and size-36 glass Go stones from `Go Game Guru' yesterday !!!! It looks like a thinner, more-portable version of the 2.4" one. I'm very happy with the purchase !
In a moment of weakness I also ordered the first Hyuga-kaya table board from this listing -

That's a beautiful board indeed ! Congratulations on an excellent purchase. The thickness looks great and the color is very pleasing as well, definitely not yellow

Re: Goban buying advice
The bag is nice, thanks. I'll keep this in mind when I get a thicker board. I also wish they will bring back something like this -

Thanks guys for your kind advice. I'm more informed now on the various choices, thanks to these forums !

Re: Goban buying advice
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was very very tempted to get a thicker board but was worried about portability (I move rather frequently owing to work) and moreover had some notions of hauling the board to the local club for a game once in a while.

Goban buying advice
Hi,
I am contemplating buying a new board and am divided between these Shin Kaya gobans -
http://shop.gogameguru.com/shin-kaya-go-board-05-c/
http://www.ymimports.com/p-2004-shin-ka ... OfKj6WBjp4
It is also a little confusing to me why the first one is more expensive even though the latter is a thicker board.
Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
