DGS does support Rengo as special format of Team-Go, so basically other formats like N:M, e.g. 2:5 or 1:4 etc. see chapter "Playing online" on SL: http://senseis.xmp.net/?Rengo#toc4
DGS does also support ZenGo (http://senseis.xmp.net/?ZenGo) as another form of the general multi-player-go.

Connection problem was resolved at 20:54 CEST. DGS is available again.

[UPDATE from provider]: Fiber cut has been ruled out. Estimate for earliest fix according to ISP is at 20:45 CEST. Error is most probably in the access router at the ISP end.

The DGS-clocks don't use the server systems time, but have an external trigger Interesting. Why? It seems someone convoluted.
The same question I've asked myself when I joined as DGS-developer. I think this system was like that from the very beginning in 2001.

Well, maybe. If a game times out before anyone can log back in it could be a problem.
That should not be a problem.

The DGS-clocks don't use the server systems time, but have an external trigger (from a German server) ... and as this server also cannot reach the DGS-server, the DGS-clocks are not ...

Response from provider-support:
Our fiber link to our internet service provider is down since 14:55. The fault has been reported to the internet service provider, they're sending a technician to the fiber connection point to fix it. I have no time estimate yet for when it will be fixed ...

I've managed to reach someone from the provider ... they are looking into it ...

Hi,

there seems to be a server or network problem with DGS (Dragon-Go-Server).
From Germany I cannot reach the server (http://www.dragongoserver.net) nor the provider (http://www.samurajdata.se).

Can somebody from other countries report about those problems as well?

In chess you might play with weaker players by starting with less figures ... however, in Go the "handicap" system also includes komi ... which is not really possible with chess.
Actually the possibility of using handicap-stones and komi to compensate for strength difference on a larger scale ...
