Re: LZ's progression

Did a quick test using LZ207, p100 vs p1000, got 0:20. Nothing surprising, just fyi.

Re: Reporting a player who refuses to count

I've had a curious bug where during counting, I can only designate my own stones. The opponent did not designate his dead stones, but just occasionally reverted the game into play mode (which I could not do myself, too!), so eventually I would lose on time. There were multiple messages popping up ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

I'm confused about the reddit post that was linked. Does that thread refer to the game from Nov 2017? Back then, LZ was about 20 kyu at best. Also, I think Leela 0.11 was not out yet? If that's right, then the reddit post is clearly a troll.

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

I've wondered about this. Why did Mr. Metta not step down voluntarily? Regardless of the truth about the alleged cheating, putting him in this position only calls for more trouble, doesn't it? It seems sensible to simply avoid this altogether. Was there an announcement in this regard?

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

In this thread there is talk of a "we" who should come up with an anti cheating system. Who exactly are these "we"? Random people in an internet thread? What expertise do these "we" have"? What resources? How much time will "we" devote to this task? Will "we" be reimbursed by somebody? If "we" come ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

here is analysis.

Thank you. I'm sorry that I repeat myself, but I'm still looking for many games by other players checked in the same way, to see if they exhibited that same pattern as the games by CM. Earlier, I gave some naive ideas why that's a possibility. The next step would be to see just ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

Bojanic, could you update your PDF such that it reflects the discussion since it was first published? I found it very hard to understand what work exactly you did and what not, and which data exactly you used (also for comparison with other players). That is very important. It would also be good to ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

The game :

First of all, beautifully played and excellent work for 3 kyu. I would have guessed that white is not kyu for sure.

Since the game was 'over' so quickly for the bot, but not over until much later for a human, I think the graph is useless in this case and we cannot draw any conclusion ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

I would much prefer unsound evidence (not too unsound, but the 98% in the case), occasional false positives and lenient punishment, that keeps the control systems simple and overall trust (we catch most cheaters + few innocents) higher.

I understand your sentiment, but this will never be accepted ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

One solution would be to have those matches organized at the local Go club. So there would be up to three computers available for such event, and an internet connection would be necessary. There would be a club representative (club president if he is not part of the team) that would act as a ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

As promissed earlier, here is analysis I made on middle game moves of Carlo Metta in four games - two internet games that preliminary analysis of deviations histogram showed that were very similar to Leela, and two of his live games from WAGC.

I think it's good that you're trying to avoid ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

- the experts would be asked to estimate how strong the players are (just ordering them according their strength would do) and if they feel 2 of the sets were played by the same player

Just for your information: I've set up a website that let's us judge other players' skill level, revealing it ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A

Just quickly to introduce myself, I've been following this case with interest and do not have a fixed opinion on how to judge it, but I also do not care too much - I'm also much more interested in the math and theory behind it and in developing methods that may help us in the future than in the case ...

Re: Name my KGS tool library

Kgs Teaching Ladder or KTL is a room on Kgs server, still exists and some activity (though in the rare occasions I log into Kgs these days it seems to be less than when I was active years ago, it helped me a lot when I was a kyu), Go teaching ladder or GTL was a website for game reviews that is no ...
