Large format indeed. The mailman needed a hand truck to get it to my front door. This thing is a telephone book.
I'm pretty excited to dig into this weekend.

Re: Buying Equipment in the USA
I've purchased from the following U.S. sellers. I'd purchase from any of them again.

Multiple go and mahjong sets; several books. Great customer service. They sell through eBay and Amazon as well, if you prefer to use those sites.

Did you mean "It takes a 20k hours to become a pro"? Because 20,000 hours is only about 27 months.
It's also 9.5 years of studying 40 hours per week, which probably isn't too far off from how some pros made it.

I'm just finishing up watching all 3 videos. You did a really good job with these.

Yes to everything, although I'm not stockpiling go equipment. I bought slightly more than I actually need, and I'm usually on the lookout for more pieces being sold, but I'm not in a hurry to build a large collection.

I prefer 30-40 minutes main time with 3-5x 30s byo-yomi.
I have come to appreciate Canadian overtime for longer games though. I tend to drink coffee or tea while I play. Running to the bathroom during a long endgame is possible with Canadian, but not really an option with Japanese times.

Re: Korean man told me that tengen opening is disrespectful
Yilun Yang said he could be very comfortable playing tengen as black against another pro. His rationale is that there are many josekis that involve ladders, and the tengen serves as a ladder breaker from all corners. Seen thru the eyes of Mr. Yang, careful joseki choices would be required to ...

But they say don't study Joseki.
Don't memorize joseki. Studying it is fine if you're attempting to understand why the moves are played. I think it's safe to say that almost all of us do have some joseki memorized though.

I guess it depends on the form such superiority takes. If large swaths of opening options are demonstrated to be clearly inferior, it will be very interesting to see which ones, but for me it will spoil a lot the fun of playing the game. Today, if a pro ...

I usually wish my opponent an enjoyable game and then thank them at the end. Sometimes we get into a self-review if there's interest, otherwise I just do it myself.

The probe at S16 is helping white decide how to fix his connection on the lower-right, yes? Could someone explain how that works? Black responded with a nobi toward the right side, so white used a tiger's mouth. Why? What kind of black response would cause white to choose a solid connection, and ...
