his poor form is for the whole year, I think. Compared to '15, he's doing worse in the A leagues, he got 0 int'l titles (possibly 1, compared to 3 in '15), it is... kinda disappointing.
Plus, I don't know, he just doesn't give off a really safe, sturdy feeling. Like, if it was Lee Changho in his ...

actually, no. he says that if you play atari on move 3, then it's pointless.

Re: Final Stage of 3rd MLily Cup Begins on June 19th
for what it's worth, Peng Quan says the 4-4 move is very hard to deal with. It's a move that forces white to choose a direction, so then black can choose which star point to take (either top left or lower right).
Normally, if you take the other corner first then do the 4-4, white will definitely ...

Re: Final Stage of 3rd MLily Cup Begins on June 19th
move 111 specifically, but the few moves before that as well, according to Peng Quan. It's inconsistent with his earlier play where he let white off relatively easy at the top; that was fine because black was leading by like 10+ points, but then suddenly he started being super aggressive, playing ...

Re: Final Stage of 3rd MLily Cup Begins on June 19th
Park Junghwan took an early lead, and Xie Ke kept playing questionable moves one after another, and by move 100, the game was basically over.
But then, Park screwed up big time, and gave Xie Ke a chance. Xie Ke took it, and ended up reversing the game for a slight lead, forcing Park to resign.

Re: Iyama's world ranking
Also in a recently posted Korean pros reaction to the Master games they singled out Iyama when asked what human didn't lose in the first 50 moves.
I thought Iyama was winning for a while... but afterwards, I don't know if I'm remembering this correctly, but I think that chinese pros thought that ...

Re: Iyama's world ranking
I have been quit skeptical of goratings' ratings, and to some extent, I still am. Meng Tailing, for example, should be ranked higher than Byun Sangil. And guys like Lee Yeongkyu are way too high despite not doing much.
Still, if I really look at Iyama's games and results, I think he is definitely ...

I wouldn't say so. In this way, 1 chinese player is eliminated for sure. If they all had korean opponents, there is a good chance all three can go through.

Re: Where are go's golden oldies?
One other explanation is that go simply is a much longer game and takes more endurance. Go games normally take a lot longer than Chess games, and many more moves are played. If we assume that the same amount of energy is spent per move by top professionals, whether its go or chess, then a game of go ...

Re: 2016 Limin Cup
Too lazy to check who played (beat) who, but the next round is:
Lee Donghoon vs Fan Yunruo
Byung Sangil vs Fan Tingyu
Ke Jie vs Shin... What's the other Shin's name in English?
Xu Jiayuan (Kyo Kagen) vs Shin Jinseo
Huang Yunsong vs He yuhan
Yang Dingxin vs Yin Lingtao
Mi Yuting vs Shibano Toramaru ...

Oh, that's ryan? I didn't recognize the name.
Ah well, shibano is pretty strong, one of Japan's few hopeful star-to-be's.

According to the pros themselves, younger players are much better at reading, but older players have better intuition.

Re: The Reign of Ke Jie
The thing is, you can't just look at the winrate. You need to look at the strength of the opponents as well. I have a much higher than 80% winrate on flyordie, because I sandbag 15kyus. I'm definitely not stronger than Lee Changho.
