Re: Harsh penalty for using phone

Also, a Bulgarian Go official got a 5 year suspension for cheating in an online tournament.

And what a joke sentence that was! A 40+ year old, chairman of the Bulgarian go association cheating for more than 2 years, being sentenced lighter than a teenager basically. And that was after 6 ...

Re: 2023 AGM Agenda

I believe it would be beneficial for the go community to learn what measures EGF is taking against cheating on pandanet. This issue was known to most of league C captains, the administrators decided to take action months after it was initially reported even though the evidence was damning from the ...

Re: PGETC : Ratings

There are some teams for which this doesn't really work out very well. None of their players have up to date ratings, and no tournaments seem to happen in their countries. We could think about Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, and until very recently Kazakhstan.

Indeed, this is a valid observation. I ...

the most frustrating thing ever

I am a SDK EGF and created a new account on at 25k. The reason i did that was obviously not because i wanted to sandbag, but to see the playing style of the asian beginner players, how they overplay and try to punish that; in short for purely practising reasons. Also, even though i'm stronger than ...

Re: EGF vs AGA pros win-and-continue match

I understand the reasons why the European team would reject the restart of the game. It would be nice to know the reasons behind the USA team rejecting resuming the game.

Re: POLL: Lui vs Surma clock dispute

I still believe the most honest response would be to resume the game, which is basically the same as giving the win to Surma, but that's not my favourite outcome. If it were up to me, i would prefer Surma to win on paper, but Eric be able to continue with the next EGF pro. That way, we accept the ...

Re: POLL: Lui vs Surma clock dispute

It’s not a case that he “clearly lost”. If you take the time settings literally, he “clearly won” on time

Sure, you're right, but what is the purpose of this tournament? Isn't it to find which team is the strongest? How a win for Eric furthers this purpose? That's one argument, that of, what are ...

Re: POLL: Lui vs Surma clock dispute

It baffles me why there are other options except the 2nd and 3rd, but maybe that's just me. Especially, giving Eric the win in a clearly lost game, 10 moves before filling dame, like seriously? The proctor confirms the lag issue and the organizers failed to consider such an event. Is this a game ...

Re: EGF vs AGA pros win-and-continue match

However, if they cannot, we could end up with the Kazan tesuji. Need more time in a complex position? Let the clock run and claim that it was lag. ( NB: I am not claiming that Surma did or would do such a thing. But some future player in a less clear position might )

The Kazan tesuji...are you ...

Re: EGF vs AGA pros win-and-continue match

I don't understand what the fuss is all about. Mateuz was clearly ahead, there were what 10 moves, basically dame remaining? And he claims he played with a 10 sec margin. Give him the win already and next time plan more carefully the tournament.

The problem is not so much for this game, but for ...
