Re: Rank Conversion

I think they are about the same. I registered on tygem with 2 5d accounts when it opened. both got demoted to 4d. on wbaduk, I recently managed to get to 5d. I got demoted to 4d once, but after the next game I was 5d again. I think I have improved since I started on tygem, and now I think I could be ...

What do you think, does Hirata have any chance of winning the tournament? That would be really great, but I doubt it, because of his bad SOS...

Re: punishing an invasion

On short analysis, black seems pretty much behind so this looks good. But I would be very concerned about future of B's 2 lower side stones... Maybe try to make shape there somehow..

Re: the best way to study

Actually reports by fast improving players are pretty different. A very few have claimed almost not to have studied at all. A few say 7 or 9 hours. The majority seems to be in the eat, sleep or study camp. The 16 or (on lazy days) 14 hours are my experience.

I find it pretty much impossible to ...

Re: Iyama Yuta - key player in the record industry

Update: John Power tells me that he has seen somewhere that while Iyama does indeed play go left-handed, he is not left-handed in general. He says, "He plays go left-handed because he got into the habit of making his moves with his left hand when playing go as a computer game."

It is not ...

Re: Invitational tournament(Korea, China and Japan)

The preliminaries were held before the earthquake and the field was set, so that's no reason.

From your post, I couldn't tell if you were saying that you'd heard news that the tournament would be held or not.

Really? Oh I must have confused them with BC cup or smthg, my bad!
I still think I ...

It is going to be held. What is the purpose of preliminaries otherwise?

Nonsense.

Re: Professionals in Amateur tournaments

Paris is probably missing because it's so recent.

The most recent tournament (Prague, 7-8 May 2011) is there, but most probably you're right. French organizers (or whoever has to submit the results) are not that fast like the Czech ones.

Re: Cho ChiHoon(ChKun)

I spent about 2-3 times more time on it and was completely focused. I got 134 if I recall correctly. it was the same test. I found the results quite strange...

Most IQ tests also take into account time taken, so 2-3 times more may have marked you down a fair bit.

I consider IQ tests to be a bit ...
