I appreciate the sidekicks!
It's fun when you see them ask a ddk question (as discussed, on behalf of the audience) and then shortly after, assist in quickly putting a fighting variation on the board that seems to show a strong pro level of understanding.

I would even question the description of this sequence as joseki these days:

Re: My OTHER favourite game: Snooker
Very minor trivia:
I Believe Chris Bryant (3d? UK) is a pretty serious snooker player as well as a serious go player.
Some time back I think he mentioned either a sponsorship or winning some reasonable amount in competition (you'd have to ask him to be sure.)
In contrast, my top break is probably a ...

Re: Teaching beginners oldschool or new AI joseki?
If it's not too late to add to the discussion of the specific 3-3 pattern, I have some analysis of what katago thinks is the best move in a range of cases:
At this point:

Thanks :)
twogtp was written in 2007, Python 3 appeared later. but why do goreviewpartner and Gomill use Python 2, this is interesting, can ask the authors?
That is a solid excuse for twogtp at least.
Looks like grp was based on Gomill to some extent?

Python 3 libraries for Go and GTP?
My level of expertise is poor in both but I quite enjoy messing around with go and python.
I want to be able to interact with bots and have found some great code for handling the GTP commands in projects such as:
goreviewpartner
Gomill
twogtp
But I have some Python 3 code that I'd quite like to ...

Yeah. I've hit my head.
I've broke my arm. I've broke my brain[sic]. I've smashed my teeth. But you know what?
It doesn't really matter, 'cause I love it. And I'm ready to do it all over again. But much more.
You got to love it, otherwise you're gonna hate it.
I used to think that this ...

Re: Flavoured weights
I always assumed that even the most frequently playing pro with the longest career would not play enough games for an ai built using current techniques to learn from. Pleased to hear that I may be wrong.

I recently remembered that this happened.
I think I'm going to attempt to recall the game one more time blind and then review it to see how sensible it really was.

First, it is not such an "exciting" triple ko.
I kind of know what you mean, but I still think this is a pretty exciting situation. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering - does anyone have any experience of tripple ko in the west?
My understanding is that western tournaments typically use ...
