Re: Choice of three Tsumego books
I'd also second the WBaduk app and the SmartGo/SmartGo Kifu app as pretty neat ways to do tsumego and get instant feedback. That being said, it's quite easy (for me at least) to base my answers on intuition alone and run through the problems without reading since I get that immediate feedback ...

Player strength range?
Hello all,
I was just wondering what the player strength range was on Kaya. I'm a fairly weak player and I've been interested in checking out Kaya for some time but I'm not sure how good it would be for me or the other players on Kaya if everyone was much higher level than me. I believe I'm around ...

Re: Thinking faster
Hmm.. that's interesting. It seems that most people are suggesting that I play more fast games. But like xed_over says, I feel like it's important for me to have a reason for the moves I play. Won't playing faster games just force me to rely on my intuition rather than well-thought out play?

Thinking faster
I have been learning a lot of cool stuff from books I've been reading and lectures I've been watching but I'm finding it hard to apply what I learn in games (finding the next big move, finding the correct way to respond to a play) that I play because I feel pressured for time. I suppose I could ...

Re: I don't get to play too often
Thanks everyone for your feedback
! It was quite helpful to hear all of your viewpoints on my game. Since I know that a lot of my weaknesses can be improved just by playing more games and getting more experience, I'm looking forward to April when I should have much more free time to play

I don't get to play too often
Hello everyone. I've actually been a member of this forum for quite sometime but I guess I'm more of a lurker than a poster.
I don't actually get to play real games that often because I'm in my third year of medical school and so my life consists of being in the hospital for ridiculous hours and ...

Re: World Cup 2010
Ugh... I like Messi and think he deserves all the plaudits but I really wish he hadn't chose this particular moment to be amazing on the international stage.

Re: So that's why I couldn't post my intro at GD...
Thanks for the welcome!
According to the proverb "There is no defeat in go". So it is at least a great way to learn how to be a loser.
Welcome
I hope to adopt this kind of attitude when I go and follow the proverb that suggests I lose my first fifty (or is it a hundred? I forget) games
I know ...

So that's why I couldn't post my intro at GD...
I guess I had the misfortune of trying to join as the site was going down. Anyway, here is the long intro I meant to post:
Hello everybody
I've been lurking a little bit for the past few days on the forums and thought I should introduce myself (for reasons I'll talk about later).
