I've never played a game on a real board with time controls, but I was curious about a few things.
If you place a stone, but don't hit the button on the clock is your move still final or is it only final if you press the button? I know that if one's hand is still on the stone it's never final, but ...

Re: Using a bot with Sabaki (or other tool)
First off, thanks for the reply and sorry for my late response. This is info I wanted.
I was having some issues at first, but they seemed to be resolved. I deleted the issues. Basically, it seems the ELF file has to be in the same directory as Leela Zero. Or maybe I typed the path wrong, I don ...

Using a bot with Sabaki (or other tool)
So, I was interested in getting into trying these analysis tools, but the only thing I've been able to even get to work is what seems to be a bare bones version of Leela Zero. I've seen videos of these tools doing analysis, showing percents and potential sequences.

Is there any way to modify the sounds?
Topic says it all. I pretty much want to disable or replace the obnoxious sound when resigning or losing a game. Sometimes, even after counting is over I'll just leave the game and auto resign so I don't have to deal with it.
If anyone knows a way, please let me know. Thanks.

In the absence of a computer, may I suggest using the organic pointing devices that are attached at the periphery of your hand.
Well, the symbol stones could be used to play out a sequence without having to fully memorize the position prior to said sequence.

Physical stones with symbols on them?
I was wondering if there exist any physical stones that have markings often seen in game reviews such as triangles, circles, X's, or squares. In the absence of a computer for review, I could see these as kind of nice for teaching purposes. Has anyone seen such stones anywhere? Maybe a set of 10 ...

Hikaru No Go - proper physical or digital releases availabl?
I was wondering if anyone knew if there is any place that may be printing this on either DVD or Blu-Ray, or, failing that, if there are any streaming services. Seems like kind of a shame if the series was no longer available officially in some form.

Re: Do you prefer thick or thin stones?
I have two sets of slate and shell stones, 10.7mm and 10.4mm respectively. I have trouble grasping the 10.7mm stones and have to make an extra effort to ensure they don't slip from my fingers. However, the thickness of both sets distracts me from reading the board. In hindsight, I much prefer the ...

You are shure it is plastic and not shell and slate?![]()
Oh yeah. I think my 7mm stones are even heavier than these are. They are most definitely plastic.

Do you prefer thick or thin stones?
Topic pretty much says it all. I got my own go set with some 7mm slate and shells and I like the feel of those better. They seem easier to grab and do the classic style of putting a stone on the board. When I go to a lot of go clubs in Japan, they tend to have very thick plastic stones. I don't know ...

Re: Close Tygem game - 1.5 win
Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah, I can definitely see that weak shape now in the bottom right during the opening. I'm not sure how I feel about immediately running to the center, though. I went into the corner to try and get a little base. Typically when that pincer gets played on me, that's usually ...

Re: Anyone ever stain a board?
Seeing the pictures of the front and back of the board I am convinced that the front has been given a wash (paint). There is clearly a difference in color(s) of the wood on the back from the uniform color on the top. For wood that thin I would expect the color on both sides to be very similar. If ...

Close Tygem game - 1.5 win
This was a game I played on Tygem. It was close, though the opening seemed strange and I wasn't sure what to do. I did write comments in the game as well. If anyone who can take a look it'd be most appreciated.

Re: Reporting a player who refuses to count
I sometimes have the opposite problem of someone who is insistent to count when I can see things that could become available after filling in the dame points. Rather than doing the appropriate thing of passing, they keep doing the counting until that runs out and then, instead of playing a dame or ...

Re: Anyone ever stain a board?
To OP: How rough is the wood? Unless it's a really thick stain, that's not going to help the roughness much. Will definitely change the appearance! Applying polyurethane could help with the roughness, but again won't help a lot of it's really rough.
You could always stain the back side of the ...
