Hello everyone!
It's been a while for me to post something in this forum, but time-to-time I find that this is the more comfortable place for me to write a thought and let the discussion happen naturally.
I am currently 2D in FoxGo, and has since running physical classes after the control order of ...

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
Quick updates here, been few months away from this forum after I picked up a new role at work.
It seems I moved fairly comfortably up the ranks at FoxGo right now after the 1D breakthrough. I did not play much online so it took me few months to hit the rank.

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
On Wednesday Dec 04, 2019 this post was created.
1 year, 9 months and 29 days later I've finally made it to 1Dan @ FoxGo server.
FoxGo may have inflated ranks but I'm still fairly excited to share my progress.
Now, onto more challenges ahead! I'm considering to play at more servers and increase my ...

Re: Looking for Reviews on My Games
New updates came in.
So I've played against the same club player which I posted in the beginning of this thread yesterday in our league. He is now way stronger that he was before (about 2-3D now). I've missed a lot of progress during these period so the league system had me taking 4 stones handicap ...

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
Looking at the title of this journal, I'd wager you get a fair amount of motivation and satisfaction from winning.
I must applaud your observative nature, this is true to me. I find myself extra motivated when I happen to move up ranks and win games. Then it hit a drought, and then I win again ...

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
Hello all,
It has been a long time since I last updated this thread on my Go progress.
Honestly speaking, I'm nowhere near 1 Dan when I'm writing, but I'm 3K in Tygem as of now. I wish that would be considered a huge progress from where I started when I began writing this study journal.

Re: Looking for Reviews on My Games
In the game against the Singapore 3d which you won by 30 points, I can't find any suspect move at first glance. It seems like you could play even with this player and so are 3d already.
I think to play on even might be an exaggeration, as I lost the subsequent game to a 3k. Perhaps there are ...

Re: Looking for Reviews on My Games
The cuts P7 and O18 don't seem to achieve much.
Yes after the game my local 3 Dan reviewed and commented these 2 moves aren't doing much. Perhaps I should just harass the unsettled white group on the right.
:b47: looks slow, it is not threatening anything, nor building much.

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
Weekly progress update:-
1. Won my first 3 stones handicap game against a Singapore 3 Dan. The guy was very kind to agree playing against me and review my games. We'd been playing for the past few weeks.
2. Lost 16.5 points in a winning game against local KGS 3 kyu player. It was painful to know I ...

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
I've taken in some advice on my posts and concluded with these goals, so here's the weekly update. Not much changes on my routine, just a little more focused and I removed too many distractions that does not motivate me to keep doing it. I'm starting to play games against human players instead of ...

Re: Finrod Felagund, King of Nargothrond, tries to reach 1da
Your feat of reaching 2k through good intuition had me amazed. I'm struggling at 10k with good tsumego solving skills but never had the chance put my reading to use in real games, guess my poor shape intuition is what stopping me from improving. You mentioned about guessing moves and watch a lot of ...

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
Speaking of tsumego, I've searched a bit of the Chinese written articles (my mother tongue is Chinese) and I've found an answer coming from Lee See Dol himself.

Re: My Path to Shodan - And Eventually to amateur 9D
How much time you want to work on a problem is up to you. My feeling for kyu players is anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. But the problems should be hard enough that you get only around half of the right in that time. :) OC, you should review those you miss and overlearn them. And it doesn't ...
