Hello pookpooi,

A question out of curiosity:
Is KGS 9D assumed to be pro level?

Re: Provocative Question

... I don't know much about chess but my understanding is that current
chess engines would completely crush top pros in a straight-up match.
They tend to win even win with one hand tied behind their back (e.g.
no endgame or opening tables) while giving heavy odds like pawn and a move.

Re: Provocative Question

Hello Ruben,

nice to meet you again. We had played in a little 9x9
go tournament 3.5 years ago on Little Golem (and you
beat me).

Re: Provocative Question

As I expressed elsewhere , I have trouble understanding how MCTS could play at the level of top professionals. What's your take on that?

Two and also still one year ago several MCTS programmers
had expressed their opinions that MCTS would run against
some threshold rather soon. I - simply ...

Provocative Question

Hello,

in this month, computer go has made several big steps:

* the wins of Zen on 19x19 against Takemiya Masaki (9p)
at 5 and 4 handicap stones

* the win of Pachi2 in the KGS bot tournament at slow time controlls

* the impressive performance of Zen13 in many free games on KGS ...

Re: Final Decision Dinerstein - van Zeijst

If you check any EGF AGM meeting you can see that we always have 2 groups: West Europe and East Europe...
And there is a big list of countries who vote against
ANY proposals from the Russian Go Federation.
Just because they hate russians.

I cannot imagine such a bad thing to be true.

But I ...

Re: Final Decision Dinerstein - van Zeijst

Hello Vesa,

We needed 220-250 clocks. We got 50 Excaliburs from the Finnish go clubs. Do the math.

One more thing: I don't like the constant emphasis that "at least the top boards should have better clocks". Are the top players somehow less capable of handling the go timers than the rest of the ...

I have tried a lot to get sgf of the game or at least a snapshot

One thing that struck as being quite silly is Dinerstein complaint that a French referee cannot judgge impartially about a Dutchman as their countries are "too close together" ...

Re: Zen19 had made 3d on kgs!

One question: You claim to have account "Bantari" on KGS.
This is correct.

But there is no user with this name (and games) in the current list.

Is this a question?

Not exactly. Here comes the corresponding question:
How do your claim and the non-existence of "Bantari"
in the KGS archives ...

Re: Dinerchtein vs van Zeist

Hello,

I would like to get sgf of the game
Dinershteyn vs van Zeijst.

Can someone help me with this?

Especially, I am interested in the position where
the accident with the clock happened, and also in
the final position (where W+27.5 was counted).

If sgf is not available, perhaps someone has at ...
