And Moderation: no single interest should overshadow everything else. This is where sometimes boundries need to be enforced.
Why Bantari? We might have different point of view here, but I think if you try to keep your kid moderate in everything he might grow up to be a boring person with no actual ...

Re: "Snowballing your advantage" in Go?
It could be that it applies better to Shogi
Agreed.
I'm no expert at Shogi either, but I got an explanation on why the joseki in Shogi seem so cowardly and defensive is because once you fall behind in Shogi, it's extremely hard to turn the table. So people start off cautiously.

Touya started at 2, that is when my child is going to start lol
I can assure you that 2 is too soon.
I am sure that it depends ...
Most important is what DrStraw said: You must not enforce it !!!
There is no guarantee that your child finds Go attractive, just because you are a passionate Go ...

Re: At which age should you teach your child Go?
Ah yeah, the thing about eating the stones. Is it true or just a myth I wonder. My son's very good at determining what's digestible. My goban's at the corner of my room and he had once spilt the stones on the floor, but aside from playing with them he didn't seem to have the slightest intention of ...

At which age should you teach your child Go?
So my son just got his 1st birthday 2 weeks ago. This got me thinking. Since I'm pretty sure I want him to like Go (so I could get someone to play with when he grows up), I'm really, really wondering which age is a good time to introduce the game to him. I'm scared that if I teach him the game too ...

Re: What's your favorite board game other than Go?
Before playing Go I used to play this game a lot Ô ăn quan . It's an old traditional game in my country, very easy to learn and popular among children because it focus on counting. I think it's spread out of Vietnam by now though, last time I went to Germany there was a copy sold in the board game ...

Please give me your thoughts on this :) (KGS - 1k vs 2d)
Hi everyone,
I didn't play much for the past 2 months and focused on studying books (mostly on fuseki, since I was advised to).
This is my first game after awhile, with a guy I just know whose style I like very much. I'm pretty sure I was serious for the entire fight (and refusing to resign while ...

Thank a lot for the introduction!
Something's on my mind though: I PM-ed him but the message went into my outbox folder. Does that mean the message was sent or not? (Since there was also a "Sent message" folder there that make me wonder what's the difference between them ~.~)
