Hi recentyl i saw that "http://www.kendo.ee/go/" known as "Go Library" is no longer online... at the ASR-league website it is listes as good resurce... and i did love this page! They had some wonderful commented games Shi vs. Fan (ancient China) ... i wanted so much to study these commented games but now the website is no longer there...

Anybody knows where to find these games and the comments ... or another source (i allready know that at SL there is one (!) game with few comments... )

Please, if you know something tell me :-))

Deleted pages can often be found under archive-org (the web-archive), here a version from Aug-2010 of the commented-games page:
https://web.archive.org/web/20100727104 ... mented.php

But the problem is, that the commented games themselves, which had been embedded with EidoGo are injected in the site with JavaScript, so it seems, the SGFs themselves have not been archived there.
But at least the game players with result is shown there, so perhaps it's easier to find them somewhere else ...

Yes, i know and already been to the cached site (but via google) ... this one looks much more clean, and i did not reached a page where there is actually a clear list like with your link...
But i searched now quite a while... could not find any of the commented games :grumpy:

Anyway, thnx very much for your help!

A Chinese source is http://jinix.sourceforge.net/go/sgf/03.古谱/当湖十局/index.html .
A translation with English comments can be found near the bottom of http://homepages.cwi.nl/~aeb/go/games/index.html .

Wow, thank you very much, that`s exactly what i wanted to find. It is really cool that you shared this link.

@tchan001 years ago i did read this text, but will rereed it again, thank you.
Yes i know about this book as well, but at my go level i think these (or any pro) games without commentary are maybe a bit to hard to follow.
(I mean, i do replay some pro games from time to time without any comments, but than i don`t understand a lof moves)

I think the updated version of the Chinese commentaries is available for purchase at:
http://product.dangdang.com/1330699552.html

It's part of a set of books with commentaries on ancient Chinese go records commented by Chen Zude.

While there are this very useful books "just enough Japanese" for understanding Japanese books,
i would not dare to try to understand these now ... but maybe in the future i would invest some time to understand them.
Thank you.

If you really really need to get those commentaries for the ten games in English, be aware that the original author of that translation says in his introduction that
Quote:
The comments are based on a book written by Chinese pro 9 dan Mr. Chen Zu-De, who was once the number one Go player in China before the younger Nie. My translation could be full of mistakes (which many people can't find :-), and for those who *can* see the mistakes, I will be greatly appreciated if you point them out.

The source of this quotation can be found on https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/rec.games.go if you search "Dang Hu Games" and find the post entitled "Dang Hu Games: Game 0 (introduction)"

So technically it is an unauthorized English translation of a published book in the Chinese language.

If you happen upon the actual MGT format recording of the English translations and you choose to process it for your own use, I'd recommend making an effort to purchase the updated version of the Chinese book by Chen Zude which I had previously posted about so as to support the copyright holder of the original work.

Perhaps the BGA is not aware that it continues to distribute such files somewhere on its website.

Maybe you are right, so I have removed these games again.
On the other hand, are you sure about the "unauthorized"? And if so, would that imply "illegal"?
These games can be found in many places, and are distributed by several vendors.
Maybe the translation was done by Jim Z. Yu, aka zhuge, well-known because of his commented Go Seigen files. Those files bear a copyright notice
"All of the text here included here was ... translated from uncopyrighted Chinese books by Jim Z. Yu. ...".
This made me wonder what Chinese copyright law was before 1992, and what current law says about old books.

That is a good idea.
