Good afternoon go-community. I would like to share with you the results of my work. There is a wonderful site on the Internet http://www.wbaduk.com , on which there is not only the relevant information from the go world, but also a lot of useful teaching material (in the "Lecture" tab). In addition to video lectures on various subjects there are "text" lectures (in "Text" and "Section" tabs), which are represented as a set of problems (in an amount of about 12,000) with a detailed analysis of them. All materials are provided free of charge and even without registration, but they have obvious feature: they are only available from the site, and only if certain browser plug-in is installed. Because I solve the problems mainly during my travelling to and from work and do not want my phone battery to discharge quickly, I prefer the paper version of the problem-books. Given all this, I had a desire to do the maximum compact pdf-version of the text-lectures so one can print them and make a problem-book. The inspiration of the design of problem-books were taken from the site tsumego.tasuki.org . This means several transformations of the original problems: changing the color of the stones in such a way that the first move is always black's; position on the board is rotated so that the diagrams fit on the page in the most compact way. All these were done automatically with the help of programming magic. Because the world is not perfect, there were several difficulties: 1) Due to the fact that the problems on the site are not stored in the .sgf, some troubles arose while extracting information about the turn (black's or white's). In most of the printed problems it is black's turn or one can see whose turn by the numbering of moves. But sometimes it is impossible. If you find a problem where the first move is white's, please let me know at wbaduk.lecture.fix@gmail.com . Please note that the names of the lectures have not been changed, so, for example, the original name may be "White's turn" but in the present colors it is black's turn. 2) Since only the name from the whole description of the problem is printed, it may sometimes be difficult to understand what needs to be done. But in most of the problems it is possible to understand the task based on the section ("The Life and Death", "Yose," etc.), and problem's title. Each lecture has its title (the same as on the site) and a serial number (counting from the earlier problem, i.e. from the end of the list on the site in corresponding subsection). This is done in order to be able to look for the answers by browsing to the website http://www.wbaduk.com . Solutions of the problems are not printed to save some space. Pdf-files are located on the link: https://goo.gl/aGY8H3. The most basic knowledge of English is enough to solve problems. Knowledge of the basic korean go-terms is needed for the complete understanding of the text. Please help with sharing of these problem-books. It is a good selection of problems for different levels, which can be useful for coaches and players who study by themselves. Thank you for your attention. |

Good work! Last week I tried to view the lectures but didn't get the plugins to work. So I gave up frustrated. I might try again, so I can verify the solutions to your compiled problems. Thank you for doing this! |
