I was wondering if anyone knows about any dramas or movies from South Korea or Japan? I am sure we are all aware of Hikaru no Go, and Go Masters (吴清源） I have seen a few from China: 大国手 - is a Qing dynasty period drama about two legendary go players Fan and Shi. Although an entertaining drama a good grasp of the Chinese language is need as the dialogue is quite flowery. 棋王和他的儿子 - A fun little film about a father and son and their love of go. Not sure if there are any English translations out there. 围棋少年 - The Chinese version of Hikaru no Go. Takes place in the Ming dynasty. Full of sword fights, kung fu and poor animation. All of these shows can be accessed through youku.com |
