So, Dfan has a very popular prokovich game going, where we try to guess the moves from a pro game, right? However, I've noticed that the game depends strongly on the dan-level player comments, and the rather limited commentary from the pro game source. This is great, and interesting to follow along with, though it's hard to keep up sometimes, for scrubs like us. What if we did the same thing, but at a lower-level? Would any dan-level players be willing to offer one of their games (or ideally, two forum players who played a game against each other)? We could walk through it, a move at a time, and kyu players could try to guess the next move, as well as ask questions about why existing moves were played. While the game quality might be lower than that of a pro game, it would be much more approachable, if only because we could ask the actual players 'Hey, why did you choose that over this', and such. While it would be fine if other dan players commented about moves that were past, it's only fair that they not try to predict moves, lest kyu players get intimidated into silence.

Any thoughts on this idea?

Sounds interesting, I'd volunteer to be one of the players.

Shaddy and Daniel, as long as you two are willing to answer a bunch of questions about your moves in the game, the two of you could play and we could give it a shot? Of course, the kyu players would have to promise in advance not to look up the moves or result, but that's fine, especially as there's no benefit to cheating.

Freegame: Yes, it would be great to do this after the L19 finals as well, but it would probably be as helpful to people of my rank for the game to be of lowish-dan ranks. I can only assume that the differences between dan grades are more subtle/complicated than I could keep up with, anyways. Ditto, of course, for most players of my rank, which seems to be around the mode rank on this forum.

Sure, I have no problem with answering questions. If daniel has no objections either, I'm good to play pretty much anytime Thursday or this weekend.
