Does anybody know anything about it? Is it available with English subtitles anywhere?

My Google translator called it "Go Junior".

Cheers

Isn't the series name something like Weiqi Boy? (Or am I wrong?)

young person but I guess here it means boy.

I shamelessly admit that this cartoon introduced me to go. Looking back on the first season (not this one) its a nice parody of the state of things at the time where the game is measure of a persons status. It also makes fun of being too shamed to compete again after a loss. The sillyness seems to be a nice reminder that go is not everything (don't hunt me down) (Like being refused a match because people think your an idiot (season 2)) Or being unable to find food and shelter. The cheesey effects (simulating dragons etc) on the go board actually reflect how dedicated people were to winning and how they treated a fight on the board like a real one which is important in that there are always other oportunities.

Also the game in 1950 or something between the chinese and japanese guys reflects the strong nationalism tied to the game. So as cheesy and childish as it is it does reflect some parts of reality. (on another note why does it load so slowly?)
