Post subject:  Visiting the UK: where to play?

Barring any surprises, I'll soon be travelling outside Australia for the first time since before COVID. I'll be in the UK for the whole month of September. Home base there will be Liverpool, but I'll definitely spend a few days in London, quite likely Edinburgh, and could be persuaded to visit other places too.

Are there any go clubs or events I should visit? Or anyone in this forum who would like to meet up for a game?

You missed a demonstration in Liverpool https://britgo.org/news/2022/jsnw but near the end of august there will be a demo at a Japanese Festival in Manchester and they are expecting to need quite a few volunteers!

Obviously the recently created London Go (Mindsport) Centre would probably become a major hub!

See the British Go Association website (britgo.org) for more information about clubs etc.

Edinburgh tends to meet on Tuesdays, currently coordinating via an OGS group, but see https://edinburghgoclub.wordpress.com/where-to-find-us/ for general info.

There's also a tournament coming up in Edinburgh on September 10.

Thanks. There's a fair chance I can actually get to the Edinburgh tournament.

I'm in Cambridge, it would be nice to meet xela after all these years! But being a new Dad it would be hard to find the time, so don't come here just on my account. It is a nice city to visit though, and the town club meets in the Devonshire Arms pub (which is very close to the train station) on Sunday evenings. If you do come, let me know (PM here).

Not sure if you've seen my PM; it looks like you haven't been online recently. Yes, I'm planning to drop in to the Cambridge club this coming Sunday, 18th September.
