This may be a weird idea but what if in countries outside of KTJC, their national go associations merged with they're national shogi将棋☖☗ and xiangqi/janggi associations? Okay, stick with me here . . . It's just that it makes a lot more sense for scant resources and populations to combine forces than compete. For Go tournaments that usually have extra roomspace when they hold the event, they can simultaneously hold a Shogi tournament and ask the Shogi association to give the tables and boards. This arrangement would be an ultimate win-win for both the Shogi Association and the Igo Association. |

afaik, shogi is significantly less popular in the west than Go is (eg. isn't there only a single western shogi pro, ShogiHarbor?) So the shogi players would likely not be forthcoming. |

I'm not sure what you mean by shogi players wouldn't be as forthcoming, since it would be a great way for shogi and xjiangqgi to attach themselves the popularity of igo, this is mostly in their interest |
