Does anyone know how he's been doing lately?

no idea, but I love Go Seigen's perseverance with his life, illness, and struggle for excellence. A man knows fear but face it, I think, is courageous.

I want to achieve what Go Seigen achieve, not about his Go, but his attitude and steel mind. I hope to see a translated autobiography of go seigen and other interesting Go players.

How lately do you mean? I believe his study group was ongoing as recently as a few years ago--I don't know if it's going on or not anymore.

John Fairbairn is providing a full biography of Go Seigen in his books on Go's ten game matches, starting with Kamakura (published by Slate & Shell).

Thank you, I'm aware of those but I'm talking about RECENTLY.

I realize you started the thread, but someone else who posted stated he would like to see a biography - not everyone who posts is going to be responding to your needs.

Go Seigen is pretty old, I hope his study group is continuing, but I doubt he is doing much else of interest at this point.

Quite frankly, I was convinced when I first opened this thread it was going to be my first notice of his death...I am glad the scare you gave me was a false alarm.

I can't read japanese, but according to the google translation and judging from the picture, Go Seigen recently visited the last mejin-match, because he lives nearby.

Sorry I missed that.

Well he is 96 years old. Anything he is doing is a success at that age. So I would have to say he has been doing quite well.
