I have no problems with thinking fast, but I hate playing blitz go, because I don't like to play meaningless games.

Blitz is not meaningless per se, it depends on who plays. If I see two DDKs playing a 30 minutes game, I wonder what takes them so long to play such meaningless moves, but sure they just don't know better yet. On the other hand if two pros play some sort of blitz go, it's still very beautiful to my eyes and shows deep reading.

In my opinion blitzing teaches to not overthink obvious responses and to focus on the important parts of the board, otherwise you might get lost easily.

The problem is, I don't think any faster in blitz go. I just think less.

For those too busy to click on the link, this is the guts of the idea.

(They further suggest that slow, varied thinking leads to the kind of calm, peaceful happiness associated with mindfulness meditation, whereas slow, repetitive thinking tends to sap energy and spur depressive thoughts.)
