We have just seen a couple of examples of time trouble, and here is another one - but an unusual one in two respects. First it was in the 1931 Oteai where games spanned two or even three days. Getting into time trouble in those circumstances seems over the top. Second, White (Kitani) evaded his time problems by repeatedly taking a double ko! If you didn't know about the time trouble you could fall into the trap of thinking there was some truly elevated thinking going on. As an incidental point, note that the first 31 moves are all on the third and fourth lines. Where does that leave Shin-Fuseki? |

So, next time I get into time trouble, just create a double ko on the board. Got it. |

The true GoGoD junkie can never resist... The first 94 plays below the fifth line (not just the 3rd and 4th line though) And runner up, the first 88 moves below the fifth line... Edit: Plus the longest time that Takemiya resisted the urge to play above the fourth line, 56 moves... |

Didn't play above the fourth line, yet still controls the center. |
