"Sorry, this website is only viewable from the US."

Interesting. It's SD format (not HD).

The download digital copies of both the Manga and the Anime along with the February 27, 2013 release new bluray box sets in Japan might suggest we'll see an upsurge in Hikaru no Go viewership soon.

Wikipedia says "The final three episodes were released in English dub February 2011 when the series was put up for download on the iTunes store." The link from wikipedia goes to mania.com which says "The complete series for HIKARU NO GO (Episodes 1-75) and MÄR (Episodes 1-52) will be presented dubbed and uncut, and will be available immediately from the iTunes Store in the U.S."

This doesn't obviously preclude the availability of English subtitles, but it's the only information I can find at the moment.

I was under the impression they only dubbed it up till episode 45...I'll be very happy if I'm wrong.

Has anyone done download-to-own before? Will iTunes let you burn the episodes to DVD? Is it downloaded in a format that you can transfer to a non-Apple portable device?

It would be nice to replace my illegitimate Season 4 and 5 DVDs with the real thing. :D

It's the dub, which is unfortunate, because I really don't like the dub.

I agree. I much prefer the original Japanese (with English subtitles), which is what you see when you watch the streaming version. But I just bought and downloaded the first season from the download-to-own section thinking I'd get the subtitled version and instead I got the dubbed version. I am very disappointed.

Well, there's a feedback link on Viz Media's page, maybe you can ask them to offer the subbed version as an option.

Wow, I see even Seasons 4 and 5 are dubbed! Though I don't know if they have the original dub voice cast. Hikaru and Sai sound the same, but Kaga was on one of the previews I looked at, and he sounded different.

Heh, it will be hard to get used to English voices for some of the side characters who only appeared after Ep 45. I got to know their Japanese versions.

Actually, I might hold out in hope of an actual DVD release...looks like you can't burn iTunes videos to watchable DVDs, and I hate watching TV on my computer. I spend too much time there already.

By the way, in iTunes, have you tried Controls > Audio and Subtitles?

Since I use iTunes on my iPad, not a desktop PC, no.
