A co-worker has expressed an interest in learning the game better -- he's played before. I've setup a board between our desks, but he'll only make a move (or even look at the board), when I'm not around. Its actually not the first time I've encountered this personality type -- but I don't understand it. |

Well... It looks like he suffers from a form of anxiety. That's nothing extraordinary and the list of possible causes could fill an encyclopedia. |

Some people don't like it when people watch what they're doing. They sometimes feel like they're being judged. |

I actually like to watch my opponents’ faces, especially their eyes, and how they move accross the board. Also their mouths may give away a lot unintentionally. And the other way ’round, if I sense my opponent watch me, I ostentatively look at parts of the board that I’m currently not really interested in, and sometimes I look happy and sometimes I look sad ![]() |
