Michael Redmond has authored a book in Japan of games of Huang Longshi. It would be interesting if he could get it published in English as well.

I just read a commented game of his from Go World with comments of Go Seigen translated by John Fairbairn. So Go World may have some as else if you have those.

Here's a game collection I put together. I hope it's useful.

Hello Logan!
It's kind of you.
You share your hard work, I mean Master Huang Longshi's games.
But one game per page is boring (for beginners), I think.
You should share sgf files in a single zip/rar.
Then we can print as we like, such as 25 moves per page etc.

Waiting for your kindness...
Thanks you so much!

ooh, I disagree. This is best.
One page, one game, play it out on a board -- it makes you think about the game and where the next move might be.

Yes, you may say so.
What you said is interesting and practical.
But it's not just for me, ie, for all including you.

However, 'One man's meat is another man's poison.'

Thanks.

The Summer 2013 edition of GoGamesOnDisk has 88 SGF files with hls in the
file name. I opened three at random, and each of those featured
Huang Longshi. There is no commentary.

On Master Huang Longshi's games of commentary, I found 2 books.
But both are in Chinese, that is all Greek to me.
I try to do with OCR software/online, but it doesn't work.
It would be great work if someone translate them into English.
I don't mean a whole book, but one chapter/week.

If Chinese speakers... :w1: :w2: :w3:

Thanks in advance.

There is also a book about Huang Longshi and his games credited to Michael Redmond in Japanese. I think some is translated and some added, but I'd have to check.

If you are talking about this book,
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/product-desc ... 860293770/
it is based on a Chinese book on Huang Longshi by Xue Zhi Cheng 薛至诚, translated/edited by Niu Xian Xian 牛嫻嫻 (Michael Redmond's wife) and supervised/revised by Michael Redmond.

According to this blog,
http://koubokukei.blog128.fc2.com/blog- ... 20626.html
Michael Redmond says that from this book we can see Huang Longshi's superb calculation and fighting strength, so he feels that this book is extremely valuable.
麥克老師說,這本書可以看出黃龍士高超的計算戰鬥力,所以他也覺得非常有價值。

The original Chinese book is from the following out of print Chinese book set:
http://ec4.images-amazon.com/images/I/5 ... SL500_.jpg
This set of books actually covers four players: Huang Longshi 黄龙士, Xu Xingyou 徐星友、Fan Xiping 范西屏、Shi Xiangxia 施襄夏 (AKA Shi Ding’an)

Thank you.
But, I don't know whether they are the same or not.
Here are two covers.
In the first book, there are 78 matches (531 pages) while 28 matches in the latter (318 pages).
Both are provided in commentary.

And now for something not very well known, I present to you an ancient endgame problem from Huang Longshi's book Yi Kuo (弈括). Remember that this is an ENDGAME problem so it's about encroachment rather than life and death. Enjoy.

Hint to the above problem.
In the model answer, it ends with Black living with only 2 points in gote.

Must be very demoralizing for black; that enclosed region looks like ten or twelve points of territory easily.

The book Yi Miao contains almost 20 games by Huang Longshi, 4 of which are taken from the Games of Blood and Tears played against his student Xu Xingyou. I have translated it into English under the title Games of Wonder. You may find more details about the book in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10127

There is no commentary though. I added an alphabetical list of players, their short biographies (if known), and a foreword. You may preview on Amazon to see if it is useful for you.
