I have been playing on Tygem. So far it has been nice. The timing is a little difficult to get used to. The twenty minute setting with three per thirty seconds, seems just a little short to be comfortable, and during the automatch you still have to negotiate times which I find annoying.

Anyway, the biggest problem seems that there aren't many players as weak as 4kyu, and during the off hours, which is prime time evening in my time zone, there aren't any. Is there a Tygem server where westerners go to play on tygem, I only see Korea, Japan, China, and Taiwan servers. I wonder why I didn't have this problem on IGS, which was Japanese I think.

I have the opposite problem. With a free account, you cannot enter servers that are too full. So at certain times, I want to enter a certain server, but there are just too many people connected for me to get on. With a paid account (at least with Korean client), you can connect to any server any time.

I have never had a problem with not finding people to play.

My advice would be to try servers consecutively until you find one that gives you a match.

I had that problem in the morning, though I was able to find an open server eventually.
